This is a review of Better Off Dead by Danielle Blanchard Benson. The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. To form your own opinion and support the author please acquire your own legal copy of this book. I received this book free as part of the blog tour.

This is the second in the Vampire Sage series.

The book starts out with Zahara going into a crypt to visit the Queen, Her Highnesses. Zahara states to no one that it will only be a matter of time before the Queen will be able to rise again.

Zahara is upset over Mikkel and Manon. Personally it sounds more as if she is jealous than anything. Off-note here, wow what about those names. I have heard and read the Zahara name before but never Mikkel or Manon. It makes me wonder how many hours of research this author put into finding such unusually names. However, all the names in this book are unusual. That just makes this book more interesting.

While I will admit that I did have a hard time following this book, I believe it was because I have not read the first book in the series. Remember this is the second boon in Danielle's series "The Vampire Saga". However, I still enjoyed this book.

There are several main characters so I will not name them all. Again, this is the second book in the series so it is not a standalone read. You will need to read the first book in order to understand this book.

From my understand in reading the book Manon has agreed to become a vampire in the first book. She somehow has the ability to walk in daylight. I do not understand the how this can happen. The author did not provide enough information. Then Manon agrees to turn her husband Mikkel into a day-walker. Somehow, after this happens Mikkel's son Emmerik is turned into a day-walker also.

This is a rather strange process for this to happen so I am not going to try to explain how it actually happens.

This book has lots of drama, cheating, jealousy, backstabbing, gossip and all the other things that happen on a soap opera.

For me, and please remember this is my opinion and has to do with not reading the first book in the series, this book was hard to finish. I had a hard time understand everything happening in this book. Yes, this book was well-written, great character development, no editing errors, and a great plot. The author has a wonderful book. Just read the first book in the series before reading this book.

The bunnies and I give this book 4 carrots.

This book was a very fast read. I read the whole book before going to sleep one night after work. I will admit to reading a different book by Danielle. Although it was a good book it just was not something I enjoyed. However, this book was just great. I do not know if I will be able to write a well-rounded review however I will try.

Julien is a pureblood. He still lives with his mother and stepfather, while his stepfather is leader of the pack. Julien fights to help put his sister through college.

Martina is considered a half-breed. Her father was pureblood however her mother is human.

Julien and Martina’s story is wonderful. I loved how the author kept an up-beat attitude with the characters.

Thanks for a great read Danielle.

Have you ever saw a cover of a book and think, that is not something I would read. Then you pick up the book, read the back cover and think, well I might like this. Well, that is what happened for me with this book. Okay calm down; remember not everyone will always agree on something. Books are like fine wine and opera, you either love them or hate them. There is no in between.

Since I do not have a television, I have not watched True Blood. I probably would not watch it if I had television. Since I work a 2nd shift I do not have time. Therefore, I am guessing that True Blood is a series about vampires.

I loved the reference and setting of this book New Orleans. I have plans on visiting the city one day. For me to not enjoy reading books about vampires I have read a lot these last few months. This book is one of the more interesting vampire books I have read.

This book has a little bit of romance, mystery, paranormal and suspense. The author has wrote an amazing short story that is complete with interesting plot and characters.

While I don’t enjoy reading vampires, I do enjoy reading Danielle’s masterpieces. If you have not tried her work yet, I highly suggest you look into all of her books.

Thanks for a great read Danielle.

I liked this book at times it seemed to drag on and on but it really was a good book. I had to wonder what was going to happen and who she would end up with. The author did a great job of keeping you reading and wanting to know what was going to happen with the characters. This is the first book in the series and I can't wait to read other books in the series.
