Samantha Carroll

A love letter to women who spent most of their lives suppressing who they really are. This collection of poems shows one woman's vulnerability as she discovers her sexuality and struggles with depression and anxiety. It is relatable to people who have struggled with this same experience, as well as people who have had an unrequited love. I have many favorite quotes, but my favorite poem was probably Pain.

I see a linear timeline throughout the book. I see growth, but also hesitancy in moving on. I see struggle with mental health, acceptance of self and of situations. I see sadness and anxiety, struggling to get through each day. I see someone pretending to be someone they're not.

Overall, I found some poems repetitive (hence the one star knocked off the rating), but I also see relatable poems. I think this is a book that could be reread, and you'll discover and feel new things each time, depending on where you are at in your own life.… (lisätietoja)
