Very funny book set out like the Bible with split column pages and chapter , paragraph numbers at the bootom of each column! Max is trying to fulfill the wish that his grandfather gave him on his death bed - to become the next pope! He tries to uphold all the teachings of Jesus as he struggles through high school and this gets him into all sorts of trouble! For instance, he offers to take in a baby lamb that is going to be killed and then has to hide it in his basement bedroom from his mother who suspects he is doing drugs! He is also chased by bullies at school because they believe he cursed them because they stopped him going to Church! On top of all this he has told the Goth girl he likes a huge lie and he doesn't know how he is going to get out of it without having his nose broken! Great read, funny and not too irreverent. Particularly liked the friendship between the older sister and Max - an unusual tack for a young adult novel as the 2 strengthen their friendship through their mutal love of the foster lamb - a lovely touch! Similar to The Dons in its portrayl of an Aussie - Italian family.… (lisätietoja)
