I really appreciated Quinn as a main character. She stuck up for herself, and gained confidence. She stayed true to herself throughout her evolution of not being "invisible" anymore. She changed because she wanted to, and not because she was trying to get Tyler's attention.

That being said, there was a whole lot in this story that didn't work for me at all.

The writing is extremely choppy. It honestly felt like it was written by a kid, not like the MC is a child, who is speaking to the reader via their thoughts and actions.

I didn't get enough of a sense of Quinn's feeling of being invisible, other than her saying to other characters, "I'm invisible, I'm invisible."

While her and Tyler's "romance" was definitely on the side of instalove, his reactions at the end of the story creeped me out. I don't really imagine many 12-13 year old characters as controlling/abusive, at least not in a story like this, but he definitely seemed it. It didn't fit with the overall tone of the book.

Also, I don't quite understand why the implication of Ethan (Quinn's brother) being gay was part of this story. It served no purpose in the story itself, other than maybe a weak attempt at some sort of diversity angle.

The friendship between Quinn, Riana and Lacey was nice. I would have liked to see more of it.

Overall, I feel like this is a good start. It had potiential, and could have been a lot better if it had been more developed and more concisely edited.

I read this book via an Amazon KINDLE unlimited download.

One of reasons I decided to download this book is that involves the Shakespearian play “Macbeth” which brought me back to the ninth grade when in our English teacher had us read the play aloud in class, and the day the class clown when coming back from what had to be the bathroom responded to the teacher’s reading Lady Macbeth line “Out, out damn spot” by saying “Okay, I’m going. I’m going” and walking out of the classroom. When he walked back in, the entire class started to laugh, with the teacher TOTALLY CRACKING UP by what he said and did.

Enough about me.

Hey ladies, if you can remember your days back in high school; you know what I’m talking about, where the good-looking hot girls got all of the attention from the boys, especially those who played sports and the nerdy plain looking ones got perpetually left by the wayside. Victoria Anderson along with her book nerdy friend Lilly are two such girls who never ever get any attention from any of the boys.

Blake Frasier, the school’s ace hockey player is basically like any sports player at his school, he’s not only thoroughly devoid of any eagerness to study, he also lacks any comprehension of Shakespeare’s play Macbeth. The combination of these two items is creating a major dilemma for him as his English grades are approaching rock bottom, which when it happens would force him off the hockey team.

His only salvation from his possible demise of remaining on the hockey team is to sheepishly go and ask Victoria for her help so he can stay on the team. Being the serious student, she is, and with her love in helping others, Victoria agrees to offer her assistance. But, as we’ve all learned about doing something like this, she finds out that the task she’s undertaken is fraught with challenges she ever would have imagined.

Will Blake paid attention to everything Victoria is trying to do for him? Will Victoria get through to Blake enough that he’ll be able to pass that all-important test on Macbeth? But, more importantly, could there be a possible budding relationship between these two protagonists, a relationship which might cause every in-crowd girl at school becoming envious of Victoria for having possibly caught Blake’s admiration?

For giving her readers, including me, a very endearing story of two different personalities coming together first for a specific goal and then expanding into possibly more congenially meaningful, I’m giving Ms. Burkey the 5 STARS she’s earned.
