Glenn Burgess is Professor of History at the University of Hull. His previous publications include The Politics of the Ancient Constitution (1992) and Absolute Monarchy and the Stuart Constitution (1996).

- Professor BURGESS was born in New Zealand, and educated there (Victoria University of Wellington), as well as at the University of Cambridge, where he completed a PhD in 1988. He returned to New Zealand to teach at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch from 1988 to 1994, when he joined the History Department at Hull. His research and teaching interests lie in the history of Tudor and Stuart England, the history of political thought, and philosophy and theory of history. Professor Burgess is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and currently sits on the Society's Council.
