This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. This keeps you guessing as to what all the secrets are in the family. I really enjoyed the characters. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

In this the second book in this series, we have Cassie marrying Zach, and all should be happily ever after, but of course not, but we hope as we continue reading that all will be well.
This book has a lot of new information dropped and a few bombshells, that you will have to wait for, but with each find it seems that Cassie’s faith has grown.
Will Cassie learn to live her faith, will she be able to overcome her fears, and in the end, we hope that she will survive.
I did love the setting for this book, and could almost feel myself looking the beautiful view, and feel that tropical breeze on my face, and could see her Dad’s house up on the hill, just a bit higher to get the view.
We are there when the surprises and gifts that Cassie is able to find, and also the big bombshell, and yet they are all treasures from the past.
A book to get lost in, and yet I would love to return.

I received this book through Celebrate Lit, and was not required to give a positive review.

The synopsis talked about Cassie having such fears about losing her husband Zach. What the story was really about was Cassie and her abandonment issues. She really had a fear of being by herself. I did enjoy the way the author focused on how Cassie could feel safe with God. Throughout the story I could sense Cassie gaining confidence and allowing herself to trust God to keep her safe. I think in a way I could relate to her because I have fears of something bad happening or being left all alone. Perhaps the story irritated me because it made me look at myself. No wonder people get annoyed with me. I sound just like Cassie. A very insecure person waiting for some disaster to happen.

It was enjoyable to share the letters with Cassie as she discovers secrets about her past. Her grandmother's letters were eye opening and I felt like maybe Cassie had opened Pandora's box. I wish the author would have given more details about Hawaii. I did very much like the reference to Pearl Harbor though. It was interesting to hear what Cassie's dad experienced during that tragic event. When the assassination of JFK is used in the story I thought it was a perfect example of how quickly a tragic event can change the course of history. Cassie realizes that she was so consumed with the fear of something happening to her husband, that she didn't realize it could happen to someone else. In a way it was a selfish thought she carried around. We get so caught up in our lives, we forget to pray for others . I liked the story but felt there were key things missing. It didn't seem like Zach was really a part of the story. I wanted more of an interaction between him and Cassie. As her husband, he needed to be more supportive and reassuring. The book left me feeling like part of the story was missing or I missed out on key parts that would have explained more about the significance of the letters. It was not emphasized as much and felt rushed as Cassie read them. It would have been a great moment for the author to really go into details bout Cassie's past. The relationship with her father was at times not explained and I really wanted to see them talk more openly and share their feelings.

The discovery of the letters that Cassie found did help answer some questions for her, but would it have been better to keep those secrets buried? "Sometimes secrets are best left undiscovered and undisturbed. Sometimes we need to accept things as they appear to be and leave it at that."

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

This is a well written and enjoyable memoir. Each person in this memoir learns how to keep God in their lives even during adversity. I enjoyed each section that was really about different people. I received this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion.
