I would not recommend this book for an absolute beginner. It might be better for someone with a basic understanding who needs their memory refreshed or a beginner with a mentor to explain things to them that are unclear. Personally I found that the illustrations and explanations weren't enough for me to follow along and I ended up asking someone to explain things to me instead.

I suppose I should sit down and try the various methods. For now it is just good to know they exist and that I can look them up when I need them.

An excellent introduction to knitting and everything concerning it. It covers not only the process of knitting, but yarns, stitches, and accessories.
