Through a confluence of personal connections and talent, Smith, a newly trained photographer in her late 20s living in Austin, was put under contract with the centennial committee to travel across the state of Texas fulfilling shots needed for the huge amount of publicity material going out to convince people to come to Fair Park in Dallas for the big exposition. Evelyn Barker and Lea Worcester's Images of America Arlington (Texas) book is an excellent introduction to the history of a city that most people only associate with ugly strip malls, Cowboys Stadium and Rangers Ballpark. It is well written and PROFUSELY illustrated. This book makes a great gift for that person in your life who lives in Arlington, TX!
