Mason Dixon & the Ghost Dinosaur (Mason Dixon, Monster Hunter #3)

I buzzed through books 1 and 2 then immediately started on this one. They are short books but fun ones. Can't get enough. This one has a lot of Mason and Emma's home base side kick, a hacker/computer guru that's a teen girl. She has been in the other books and she too is hilarious.
This book has t-rex looking dinosaurs but they can go invisible. Also, Mason meets the creature that killed his friend 5 years ago, the Missouri Momo!… (lisätietoja)

Skyborn by Eric R Asher
Steamborn series book 4. Fantasy YA steampunk. Best read as part of the series in order.
Ancora has been left in shambles after the war. Those that survived are trying to rebuild their lives and homes. Jacob, Alice and friends face danger and difficulties and old and new enemies are evaluated.
“Four barrels of Pill-bug eggs.” The image of that in my head gives me nightmares. Not to mention the Tail Swords (think giant size scorpion, kinda) that emerge and attack or maybe molt. Yeesh. Having a vivid imagination while reading and “seeing” this world can be a bit unnerving. But I can’t wait to read the next book!
Alice is becoming more of a heroine on her own and quite impressive.
🎧 I mostly listened to an audiobook version narrated by Saskia Maarleveld. I also have print and ebook version which makes it easy to look up descriptions or going back to verify something. The performance is phenomenal. Voice variations and emotions come across clearly and cleanly. This is a narrator you want to follow.
My ratings might have been a bit lower for the length and gruesomeness if not for Saskia. She makes the stories come alive.… (lisätietoja)

Vesik Series Boxset, Book 2

This is a set of audible books I requested and the review is voluntary.
I have the first set and hadn't read them yet when this offer came along. I just had to grab it even though I would have to listen to it first before the first set. The author sets it up so I didn't feel lost and I didn't feel like I heard a bunch of spoilers either. I also love the fact that he writes about St. Charles and St. Louis Missouri which is my stomping grounds! Worked in St. Charles for over 30 yrs. so the home touch is nice. The author brings a closeness to his characters too. In the three books, you get to know the characters and bond with them, the author does that, he lets you. There's a lot of humor scattered about also, I found it when least expected and had coffee coming up my nose frequently. Lots of action, adventure, good fantasy, fun dialogue, and just clever writing. A joy to listen to. I don't normally re-read or in this case, re-listen. But after I listen to books 1-3 I will definetely re-listen to this set again!
The narrator was great and kept the voices and emotions flowing flawlessly. Can't get better than that! Great job!… (lisätietoja)
