Papa, Maman, Violence, Haine, Déménagement/Déplacement, Disparition, Répression, Cachette, Peur, Faim, Refuge dans l'imaginaire... blabla...

En un mot comme en mille : indigent !

La naïveté et/ou la candeur de l'enfance rend perplexe sur le sérieux même de l'ouvrage. Non sur les faits, les évènements et le vécu mais sur la restitution très édulcorée des dialogues et des pensées.
Sophie Ancel, annoncée comme réalisatrice ou journaliste, apporte une contribution à la restitution du récit dont nous pouvons nous interroger sur la finalité.

Pour qui fréquente les "Témoignages" et un peu l'histoire de la période 70/80 au Kampuchéa/Cambodge, cet ouvrage est déconcertant à bien des titres : il n'apporte rien sinon de vagues propos à prendre avec beaucoup de précaution. En effet, comment comprendre la mémoire, la conscience et le souvenir de faits lorsque l'on a 2 ans !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hummmm. Mais peut-être Navy Soth est une génie ou alors sa collaboratrice l'aura amené à banaliser son propos en l'agrémentant pour convenir à un édition.
Penchons pour cette 2e approche et gardons en tête que le vécu de l'auteur se situe dans un enfer idéologique ou la violence génère les comportements humains les plus inhumains !!… (lisätietoja)

Another of those sort of books with extremely important subject matter that is ruined by the execution. The European creative team turns the human suffering originating in Myanmar/Burma from the 1980s to the present into a melodramatic fiction drowning in purple prose and soap opera plot developments. It seems presumptuous of the French author, no matter how much time she has spent doing research in the region, to write in a narrative voice that uses "we" throughout the book as she speaks for the Zo people; it blurs the line between the work being educational and exploitative.

Also, I had trouble understanding the passage of time throughout the book, with horrible and bloody events seeming to constantly follow immediately one upon the next while somehow decades keep passing until we find the whole book has covered over 25 years.
