Loved the premise and the first half. The second half didn't catch my attention - I think too much politics.

**** SPOILER ALERT ****
"Opportunity" was my first chance to read Shaw's writing. I felt right at home very quickly as the author did a great job at world building.
Shaw did a great job of mixing the two genres if mystery/thriller and science fiction. I loved Asimov's "The Caves Of Steel", but I have to hand it to the author, Shaw does a lot better job of breathing life into the characters. I look forward to exploring this "universe" more in future.
I highly recommend this book.

Though this is a very short read, I think that it's a perfect start to a series I've never read before. You ever have a hard time committing to a series because you don't know anything about it? Me too. That's why I chose this week to read three prequel novella's and review them.

I've always found science fascinating - everyone has heard of Einstein and Newton and this author introduces us to their work and more modern principles of things like gravity, acceleration, heat and mass and travel at the speed of light or faster.
As a science fiction fan, I was astonished to discover that there is actually a link between mass and time and space which means that the faster you travel the slower time goes! Time/ space does actually warp Mr Spock! (That may not be entirely accurate- but you'll have to read the book to correct me!)
In all, this was a light hearted and entertaining read, as well as being informative.
I received a copy of this book for an homest, non reciprocal review.
