The friend that loves Moore then sent me A Dirty Job for a hospital read, and it was just ok. Moore was one of those authors I had always meant to pick ... I've read Bloodsucking Fiends and You Suck. I liked them both, but liked YS better I just finished Christopher Moore's Bloodsucking Fiends and I'm now starting You Suck by CM. I finishing up You Suck: A Love Story by Christopher Moore and then I'll start The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman. I'm listening to Basketball Jones by E. Lynn Harris when I'm in the car. Love Story by Erich Segal ... Dirty Job. It's a good introduction, I'd say, and doesn't have reoccurring characters (as far as I can remember...) like You Suck or Bloodsucking Fiends. Fool was pretty funny too, though not really *fantasy* it was about King Lear's jester. ... Bridger

Bloodsucking Fiends & You Suck: these are by my fav dark humor author and should be accessible for her age. they are really really funny and have a strong female lead.

The sequel to Bloodsucking Fiends, You Suck has none of the novelty - and very little of the charm - of the original book. While a lot of the same humor is present, the characters lack the development of ... ... but it did just show up on the automatic Recommendations in my profile.
I'm not trying to take the suggestion You Suck, too personally. ... The Secret Agent, i've almost finished but i'm kinda stalled. I also started Bloodsucking Fiends, so i guess that and You Suck will be my next two reads. When i'm not reading Twilight out loud, of course. *rolls eyes* ... the Winged Whale Sings, The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove, and Bloodsucking Fiends are all hysterical as well.

Christopher Moore...A Dirty Job would be a better place to start than You Suck. Wacky. Not manic. I've skimmed Lasagna Gardening and given up on Christopher Moore's You Suck after 50 pages. The latter was obviously a sequel, which I didn't realize when I picked it up at the library. I've heard good things about Moore, so I won't give up on him, but this isn't the book to start with.
