Vince og Joy traff hverandre en sommer da begge var i slutten av tenårene. Komplikasjoner gjør at de ikke får tatt avskjed med hverandre, og de mister derfor kontakten.
17 år senere er Vince en singel kar med leilighet og en ok jobb. Men han savner kjærligheten, og får seg ikke til å glemme kjærligheten han og Joy hadde.
Joy derimot, giftet seg med en fyr hun traff online, etter bare tre måneder. Nå er hun ulykkelig og vil skilles. Hun lengter fortsatt etter Vince.
Tilfeldigheter gjør at veiene deres stadig krysses, men alltid på feil tid til feil sted, samt er det misforståelser involvert. Kan de noen gang bli sammen igjen?

En fin roman, som minner veldig om "Der regnbuen ender" av Cecilia Ahern. Litt plagsom med andre ord, men vakker. ( )

A quick and light read that ponders how destiny can shape two peoples lives, Vince and Joy is a fun novel. I enjoyed both of the main characters, but was frustrated when each character made a bad choice and took an eternity to realize it. The plot stumbles a bit through these bad mistakes (trying to show character growth), but I found myself wanting the pace of the novel to pick up. The ending works for the book, but leaves the reader hanging and a bit disappointed.

- Vince and Joy fell in love one summer as teenagers, but a misunderstanding meant they lost track of each other. Over the next twenty years, they fall in and out of love with others, and both begin wondering if that first love was the one. Interesting, but a major let down in the end – we never get to find out how they are together again! ( )

This is the first Lisa Jewll book I ever read and I only picked it up because it came free with a magazine. But now I have read it I would certainly recommend it to anyone who likes fairly predictable but charming stories about nice people (and I say that nicely, since I am one of them).
Vince and Joy meet as teenages on holiday, have a holiday romance and go their separate ways. They never forget each other and have various chances to rekindle their romance, ruined every time by bad choices and bad timing. Will they ever get together?
This is a good, readable book that moves along well and sent me out to buy and borrow the other books in the Lisa Jewell back catalogue and I haven't regretted it. ( )
