As with all of the Brodie's Notes series of books, this is a detailed analysis of the novel "The Great Gatsby", including of F. Scott Fitzgerald and the his larger body of work, the plot of the novel and its background setting, etc.

What I found interesting was the discussion of the 1974 film adaptation starring Robert Redford in the title role, and how it compares to the novel. I wonder if it will be updated to the 2013 Baz Luhrmann version in due course?

The central discussion in this book is of Style And Its Effects in "The Great Gatsby", which together with the as usual excellent discussion of the novel's characters, chapter summaries and textual notes, make this an excellent resource for any student studying the novel. ( )
