I also think you might like A Great and Terrible Beauty. I'd also recommend Wake and Fade by Lisa McMann, as well as Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins.

Saturday read Fade which wasn't as good as the first book in the series Wake. The series is about a girl who falls into other people's dreams and can use them to solve crime.

Now nearly finished Wake by Lisa McMann (takes me 10 mins every time to find the damned touchstone) and I rather fancy starting another books afterwards even though i am pretty shattered.
Calm ... ... as compelling as the epic Bronze Horseman and no less heart-wrenching. Bring on the Summer Garden!!

Come to mind right off the bat. I'll be back with more when they occur to me. Some YA (young adult) she might enjoy is by Lisa McMann with Wake and then Fade. Evermore by Alyson Noel and Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I'd check in at the library. Not only can you get the books for free but a lot of the librarians have read the same books and would be able to ... Wake by Lisa McMann is a grabber about a girl who can't help getting drawn into others' dreams. LTers also have liked the sequel Fade, which I haven't read yet. ... Also, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Different, but powerful, is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Also, Wake by Lisa McMann.
If you want to try an adult wizard in Chicago, the Harry Dresden books by Jim Butcher are fun. Storm Front is the first one. ... by an Angel. The Host was amazing but I can say the same with Kissed by an Angel. But for a runner up, I would say Wake was a good book too.

Whereas I thought the first book in this series, Wake, was a ho-hum intro to a mediocre series, Fade completely blows those thoughts away. Lisa McMann keeps her minimalistic prose—dreamlike in its own way—and ... #13luv2read97 I did exactly the same thing with Wake and Fade; still waiting on the library for the latter. Just read Wake and immediately after put Fade on hold at the library so I can see what happens next. 24) Wake by Lisa McMann.
I got this book thinking it would be one of those crazy, absolutley impossible sci-fi books and that it would be a quick, blah read but it turned out to be really good. I read it in one day and I never wanted to stop. 4 stars. I just finished Wake. I thought it would be a bad book and kind off depressing but I read it anyway and it turned out to be REALLY good and I finished it in one day. I found out about Wake from LT and really liked it. I just recommended it to my daughter. It's a fast read, too. I've got a hold pending at the library for the sequel. I just got Wake today and I can't wait to get started on it. I also got Chains which i''m not as excited about. I am reading Wondrous Strange and Angelmonster. I just finished Wake by Lisa McMann, which was quite good, and picked up Feed by M.T. Anderson. I misbehaved the other day and ordered Lisa McMann's Wake, John Green's Paper Towns and Maureen Johnson's Suite Scarlett from Amazon! I should feel bad, but I guess I really don't... I'm so looking forward to getting them! ... and Samurai Legend by Furuyama and Jiro Taniguchi, a well-drawn graphic novel with a clunky storyline. 7. ... night, I think it was good. In terms of the recent YA I've read, not as great as the Uglies trilogy, but far better than Wake. It definitely kept me reading, I'll have to check out Ink Exchange soon. The Hunger Games was excellent, as was The Graveyard Book. I've read both Wake and Fade and preferred Wake. Wake had more of a compelling story. ... most of the above (The Hunger Games, Graceling, The Graveyard Book), but my favorite new YA finds this year were Wake and Fade by Lisa McMann. I haven't seen a lot of buzz about these, and I can't for the life of me remember where I saw them recced to read them, but I liked them a ... ... with an already packaged book> I'm not a fan of Ayn Rand...there was a reason I was parting with the book! :)

Every time someone near ... Wake by Lisa Mcmann was one of the more genuine teen novels I've read in a while. The voice sounded realistic not contrived. She is not a pampered girl, she has difficulties & perserves- working & saving for college all the while. The storyline is intriguing- she is pulled into your dreams ... Just read and really enjoyed The Adoration of Jenna Fox and also finished Wake which was just ok but teens would probably like it a lot. I have a few lined up to read in the next few days - Black Mirror, Kiss my Book, 47. 33) Wake by Lisa McMann - another YA - sort of interesting premise about dreams. Since she was eight, Janie has been getting drawn uncontrollably into other people's dreams - everywhere and anywhere. School is a nightmare especially study period. I really enjoyed Dead Is but not quite as much as the first in the series. Janes was kind of fantastic while wake and Audrey where okay. Good but not great. ... a TON of books ... I must post about them soon before I forget about them... I saw that others have been reading & enjoying Wake which is one I recently read & liked too.
I will see if I can get around to updating all the others soon -a highlight has been the Sweep series by Cate Tiernan . ... So are Wake and Fade part of a trilogy or series? I could tell by your reviews that you really liked them. This is a new author to me.

It threw me at first because its written in a almost diary entry type way but from an outside perspective, its very unique to anything I have read before. Before I knew it I was hooked and the book was over. Its very interesting and I would recommend it. ... I'm going to start Wake by Lisa McMann. I met her last night at a panel event and she was very nice so I picked up both of her books. I haven't read Wake but I have read The Translator: A tribesman's memoir of Darfur. I haven't read Adelaide Einstein but I have read Wake I just finished Wake by Lisa McMann and came looking for this thread again. Although it's the girl who's the 'special' one in this book, it has some of the same themes and a pair of compelling and interesting characters. The romance is a touch steamier than Twilight, though. ;) I just started (and finished - it was a quick read!) Wake, which I liked quite a lot!
