55470 Of the various Golden Nature Guides we had around the house back in the 1950s and 1960s, this one got the most use. That's because we had a tree- filled yard that attracted an abundance of types of birds. When a new type would appear, we'd get out the nature guide to try to identify it. The beautiful illustrations made that relatively easy, in combination with the small maps that showed geographical distributions, both seasonal and migratory. Years later, I went off to graduate school to study birds, but instead fell for reptiles, upon which I built a career. As with the other guides, it's a bit hard to part with, but I have better guides and haven't opened this one for decades. This was my parents' book, and my brother and I used it growing up. We identified birds in the North East and also used it to learn how to draw. The information given is simple but interesting - it covers the basics of the species and the illustrations may not be incredibly complex, but are beautiful and make it easy to identify varieties of birds. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
