I'm reading my gorgeous Persephone Books (a possibly posh publisher in London) "The Making of a Marchioness" and The Hobbit (it was raining last weekend so K and I stayed in for an LoR Marathon)

The first book I remember reading was The Hobbit when I was 6 years old. But I had a full set of Oz books at the same time and I'm sure I read them ... just not sure if before or after JRR. I also had Big Red, Black Beauty, and a ton of other books. By the time I could ride a bike I ...

IMHO there's a vast gap between Hobbit and LotR on one hand, and all the books published posthumously on the other. Namely, the narrative in the two first-named flows.
