The book starts out a bit slower than what I'm used to but the pacing of the romance between Reed and Grace is far from slow. Their romance spans a matter of less than three weeks...well their second chance romance.
In high school, Grace was the quintessential "it" girl. The popular cheerleader with six siblings. Her only form of rebellion was secretly dating the quarterback of their rival high school. Back then, any one who dated or associated with someone from Meadowdale was chastised and bullied. Neither Grace nor Reed wanted that to happen. They dated all of Senior year in secret. Grace went to college.
Grace never forgot about Reed--compared every guy to him. No one compared. It never occurred to Grace that she would run into her ex during her three week stay to teach a screenwriting class at her sister, Amber's bookstore.
Ten year later, Reed returns to his hometown to help his uncle Roy after his heart attack. Roy and his wife raised Reed. Of course, he would return to help the man with his construction company. Roy taught him everything about restoration and construction. What Reed didn't know is the last construction job before his uncle returns to work is the Montgomery place. He also didn't know that Grace was coming home for a visit.
Reed let her go once. He decided he wasn't doing that again.
Everything about this book is small town living from how everyone is in everyone else's business to how they help each other out. Grace thought she was running away from the small town living when in reality she was reminded how much she loves it and her family. A very endearing, sweet romance. ( )
