This is my true and honest review of The Rogue is Back in Town. This was released for publication on 2nd January 2018.

This is the final instalment of the Wayward Wallflowers books. This novel was had everything I could want from historical romance, Love, Intrigue, Sass and a Hot Romance. Also had a bad boy main character which I have a soft spot for and a smart female lead.

If you love historical romance, then defiantly read this book and series. ( )

The Rogue is Back in Town is meant to be lighthearted fanfare, but every once in a while there are moments that hit you in the heart and are reluctant to let go. For the love of her family Julie will risk it all, heart, pride and freedom. For the respect of his family Sam will try his hand at responsibility. Neither plan works in their favor, but each learns something along the way. How to fall in love. Anna Bennett wrapped me in knots with her frustrating, clueless, heartwarmingly irresistible couple. A young woman moonlight kiss in the garden during a ball is just the beginning. Contrary to Miss Juliette Lacey's expectations, the erstwhile respectable Duke Nigel (the worm!) does not come a wooing. Instead he sends his rogue of a brother, Lord Samuel Travis, to evict her and her uncle from their home. The relationship between Nigel and Sam is really a key to Sam's behaviour.
Entranced by Juliette, the rogue in Sam finds himself wanting Juliette, but the suppressed Sam wants a chance to change his path. There are some deliciously wicked moments and some humorous ones. Uncle Alistair is a wonderful character. He won my heart with his platypus exchange with a hide bound member of the Royal Society. (The science community did repudiate that such an animal could exist when it was first reported.) Uncle's investigations of the Thames River are also a rather stunning inclusion. A man ahead of his times!
So we have the respectable yet devious brother, the reckless rake seeking to reform and the redoubtable young woman who wants so much more.
The Lacey sisters do indeed have a way with them. Juliette's story is bravely done.

Love it or hate it – that is what readers will probably decide once they finish this book. As I read I had the feeling I was reading what could have been seen in a silent movie or the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons with the evil Snidely Whiplash, Dudley Do-Right and Nell Fenwick. I had trouble with the believability of this story even though I really did try.

Samuel Travis was the rogue sent out by his marquis brother to evict poor Juliette and her uncle from their home. Samuel is trying to redeem his name and improve the way his brother and society see him. Juliette’s sisters are busy with other things and married to men with rank in society while she stays home to tend her eccentric uncle. Nell has kissed Sam’s brother Nigel and thought he would ask to court her…he has other plans for her entirely. Sam and Nigel find Juliette a tasty morsel but only one will end up with her by his side in the end.

I am conflicted on this one…I wish it had been better…and again…if it could be made into a cartoon or silent movie it might do well…

I have not read any of the previous books in this series but that did not lessen my understand or enjoyment in this book. This book follows Samuel and Julie. Samuel is widely known for being a rogue and is finally kicked out by his brother and given the task of kicking out the man who lives in a property that his brother owns. Little does he know that he'll encounter the fiercely protective Julie living in the home with her uncle. From the moment they meet the sparks will fly.

I loved both Sam and Julie and quite frankly couldn't get enough of Uncle Alistair. I loved the chemistry between Sam and Julie from the start. While at times they did have little fights that I would consider stupid I did really enjoy the progression of their relationship.
