The book does has a list at the end of the authors and a brief description of them and their life which I think is helpful to understand the poems. This book would be great in a Language Arts class that is a Poetry Unit as the students could do research about the poem and the poet itself and their life. ( ![]() I read this alone and then also in my reading group, it was a book that I enjoyed reading these beautiful poems. This collection of poem brings attention to those who "got style", "in your shoes", and "thank you'. Those these may just be a string of words, these poems assist in the recollection of those who are remembered for what they have done for our society - they are being celebrated. There is also a description of those being celebrated listed at the end, which assists the reader in knowing who they are learning about more than just the written poem. I really enjoyed reading through all of these poems. My favorite read was For Our Children's Children. It is about nature and I really enjoy nature. I really enjoyed the concept of this book. It was meant to both honor and write in the style of the twenty chosen poets. This allows students to be exposed to the style of well known poets, and perhaps form a connection they can pursue. The authors also strove to inspire readers to attempt poetry. They did this through using simplistic language and form. Poetry is intimidating for many students, and I really appreciate that the authors set out to encourage young readers to take pencil to paper and try poetry themselves. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
