I finished The Invention of Hugo Cabret, and I thought it was a great book. I remember talking about George Meleiu in my Film as Lit class, so it was cool to read a story about him (even if it was fiction).
Next up I'm moving on to The Looking Glass Wars. I loved Hugo Cabret. One of my teachers loaned it to me an it was a wonderful book. It looked like it was long, but it didn't take long to read.
Amulet of Samarkand was a good read as well. It was also recommended to me by my sister =

Have you really never read Coraline, Espy? I thought it was very freaky, but in a good way. I really like Hugo Cabret, too. It will be a quick read for you. Lots of great pictures. ... Wars

Bloody Jack I found Hugo Cabret's multimedia approach compelling. The story, on the other hand, wasn't terribly original or captivating (though it was sweet). I just finished The Invention of Hugo Cabret, and I loved it. It has beautifully captivating illustrations and a story that is fantastic and heart-warming. A week or so ago, I just happened to read The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick which features an automaton in the first section of the book. I had not even been aware of automatons up until then, not to ... I've finished Murmurs of Earth and I'm about half way thru The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Selznick's YA novel is terrific with much of the story being told thru his great drawings. It's also a nice change of pace from the other books I've been reading. ... we need "skilled-reading" courses, as many people believe books should only be read once. As I have found with books like The Invention of Hugo Cabret, that would be a waste of a very fine book which ought to be read a thousand times or more if I was a Time-Lord.

That was very quick for a big book like that. It barely contained enough text for 2 hours of reading. Worse however is that it felt as if the author was rushing through the story, instead of letting it develop in it's own pace. It is an ... ...
