This small volume challenges our assumptions. As a line of animals get ready to board a rowboat, we're asked which one will tip it over. Will it be the cow, the donkey, the sheep, the pig, or the mouse? A new rhyme each time the question is posed keeps the tale from becoming stale.

This book is useful in teaching math for bar graphs and data analysis, because the different animals could be used as graph data to make comparisons and predicitions from. It is a easy read that is great to use and incorporate into as a math lesson teaching graphs.

I used this book this year during Science Inquiry as an introduction lesson. We made clay boats and thought about how we could make changes to the boat to make it hold more weight. This was a great piece of literature to use! ( )
