So, yes, like so many others out there I have to admit that I love Mary Calmes' books. Something in her characters, her story development always gets to me, regardless of what the storyline is about. And this book is no exception to this. Again we have an interesting storyline that kept me guessing throughout most of the book. The characters, while not perfect (but doesn't that make them better in reality lol) were engaging, sexy and fun. And combined it made a book that I didn't want to put down at all! I could have used more time with Cord and Tracy together, and I would have liked a little more drama between them. It was like they both gave in and decided to stop being mean to each other too easily/quickly, and after all the crap with Breck, Tracy trusted Cord, who was quite the manwhore himself, a little too easily. I'm wondering if Alex is going to end up being gay or bi and having a relationship with Dimah?! Everything is from Tracy's point of view. I found his understanding-curve to progress organically through the course of the story, his blind spots aren't always obvious to the reader. (To this one, anyway.) I guessed the perp but the way it's revealed is good. The end maybe goes on a little longer than necessary, but I enjoyed it: it has a purpose.
I've seen a couple reviews comparing this (unfavorably) to another novel of the author's, A Matter of Time. I'll read the free sample. Maybe I'll agree. Floodgates hooked me in before I finished the second chapter; Tracy's voice stays true all the way through. ( )
