Contents |
[edit] Your Profile
[edit] User name
Displays your user name and a link to change your password.
[edit] E-mail
The e-mail account that you want LibraryThing to send lost passwords, comment notifications, etc. to. This is optional, although you can enter an e-mail address and still opt-out of receiving e-mails and/or showing your address on your profile.
[edit] Account type
Shows whether you are a free member, paid yearly, or a lifetime member. (Upgrade options?)
[edit] Picture
Lets you pick what picture you want to appear on your profile. You can have no image, choose from one of the preset literary figure portraits, or upload your own image.
[edit] About me/my library
Text fields for free-form information about yourself and your library. Some basic HTML is allowed, including <b>, <i>, <a>, and <img> tags. Clicking on the "more space" link enlarges the text box.
[edit] Website
If you'd like to link to your website or blog from your profile, entering it here (complete with http://) will turn it into a link.
[edit] Real name
Optional. If it's blank, we'll probably just call you Mr. Potatohead. Or by your username. Whatever works.
[edit] Location
Optional. Since LT is international, many people like to know where other people are coming from, but you're welcome to leave it blank, or to be as specific, vague, or fantastical as you like. This information is searchable by other members, both on the member search and through LibraryThing Local.
[edit] Also on
Links to your profile on other websites. For a list of supported websites, or to request one that isn't already on the list, see the Also On FAQ.
[edit] Account settings
[edit] Public or private
Lets you choose whether you want your library to be public or private.
[edit] Comments
Do you want other users to be able to leave comments on your profile?
[edit] Friends
Do you want other users to be able to send you friend requests? The "friends" relationship is reciprocal and so must be requested; even if you disallow friends requests, other users can still add you to their list of "Interesting Libraries". See the member connections FAQ for more information.
[edit] E-mail settings
Allows you to set whether or not you want your e-mail visible on your profile, and what kinds of e-mail communications you'd like to receive from LibraryThing.
[edit] Primary language
LibraryThing has been translated (by users!) into a variety of different languages - you can choose which language domain you want to be your default.
[edit] Your Book Reviews
LibraryThing may occasionally sell its aggregated information about books (tags, recommendations, etc.) to other institutions. You can choose whether you want any reviews that you've written to be included with that information.
[edit] Neighborhood Bookshop Integration
Several bookstores have integrated their inventory information with the LibraryThing system. If you'd like links to any of these bookstores to appear on HelpThing:Work pages, click here. For more information, see the bookstore integration FAQ.
[edit] Miscellaneous
Some users were concerned about privacy issues regarding the tag mirror, so this checkbox gives you the option to disable it on your profile.
