You can select a subset of books using checkboxes, and then add tags, remove tags, alphabetize all tags, delete the books, set the language, or find duplicate ISBNs. Note that you cannot double-click to edit individual fields while in PowerEdit.
[edit] Search
A quick field to search within your catalog. Use the drop-down to search within a particular field (only with titles, for instance) - the default is all fields. For more help on the search syntax, see here.

Double-clicking in almost every field will allow you to edit the information in-place. You can edit what columns appear by clicking on the edit link next to the display styles.
[edit] Sorting
Any column with a blue header is sortable. Click on the blue header to sort your catalog by that column (A-Z). Click on it again to reverse the sort (Z-A). You can sort by multiple columns - your catalog will remember the previous sort order and use it as a subsort. For example, if you want to sort by Author, subsorted by Title, click first on the Title heading, and then on the Author heading.
[edit] Available columns
- Cover - Displays the cover for your book, or, if it doesn't have one, the default blank cover. Clicking on the cover will bring up a link to go to the social information for the work and a link to change the cover. The cover field is not sortable, but you can find out which of your books do not have covers by going to your profile, clicking on the Statistics link towards the top center of the page, and then clicking on the "Book Covers" link, which will appear immediately below the "Statistics" link.
- Title - The title of a book. This field is sortable. LibraryThing automatically ignores initial articles like "The" and "An", so "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe" will sort with the "R"s, not with the "T"s. If you have a book with a title like "A is for Apple" that you want to force to sort with the "A"s instead of the "I"s, you can do this by NEEDS MORE INFO. Clicking on a title will take you to the work page.
- Author (first last) - The author, displayed as firstname lastname. This field is sortable, although it still sorts by the last name. Clicking on an author will take you to their author page.
- Author (last first) - The author, displayed as lastname, firstname. Sortable. Clicking on an author will take you to their author page.
- More Authors - Additional authors, editors, illustrators, etc. Not sortable.
- Date - The date of publication of your book. The information that LibraryThing pulls from its information sources when adding books is typically the date of publication of your specific edition. Some enterprising users have gone through and changed every date in this field to represent original publication. These are the dates that are used for making the graph on your library stats page. Sortable.
- Tags - All of the tags you've applied to your book, separated by commas. Sortable. Clicking on a tag will bring up a list of all books with that tag. At the top of this page will be a navigation bar that says Your library > tags > TBR, for example. Clicking on "Your library" will take you back to the listing of all of your books; clicking on "tags" will take you to a page with all your tags. On the right side of this bar are links to your tag cloud, the tag page for the tag you just clicked on, and RSS feeds for this tag in your library.
- Combo - All of your tags and Comments displayed as one field. Not sortable.
- Comments - Space for information about the book that doesn't conveniently fit into any of the other categories. Some ideas from other LT members include things like purchase price, recording who has borrowed their books, contents of anthologies or short story collections, favorite quotes from the book, first lines, dedication information, etc. This field IS viewable to other people browsing your catalog. Sortable.
- Private Comments - Similar to the Comments field, except this field is only viewable by you when you are logged in, even if your catalog is set to "public". Not sortable.
- Reviews - A place for the review of your book. Not sortable.
- Rating - Your rating of the book, ranging from 1/2 to 5 stars. Click to get the number of stars you want; a second click on a star will get you a half-star, a third click will remove the star. Sortable.
- Summary - Summary of publishing information. Editable. If in green text, the summary is taken from the title, author, and publication date fields of your book and is not in your library.
- Subjects - Subjects of the book. Not editable. Subjects are filled in when a book is added from a library source (not available from book stores). If in blue text, subjects came with your the specific book & edition and are in your library. If in green text, the subjects are aggregated the work and are not in your library. Green subject data may change over time.
