Wow! That book sounds excellent, since I'm pure Irish, with all of my grandparents hailing for southern Ireland, and I live in "Another World", California, USA.
I like light reading, plus mythology, so I am reading: The Little People, by Neil Philip, Harry N. Abrams, Inc. NY 2002.

I just started The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie. Not having read any of his books before, I'm unsure what to expect, but I've heard some good things about him, so we'll see.

I'm back in Randland with A Crown of Swords, book 7. My goal is to be caught up with the whole Wheel of Time to date by the end of 2009. It'd go faster if I didn't read other stuff in between!

I've started the new book Shifter by Janice Hardy. Debut author, book just came out the end of October. I have high hopes as its quite hard to be a new author in this economy.

Picked up another series opener in The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

I'm in C.S. Lewis' world of Narnia ! :)

I'm still taking my merry time with Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings; specifically, I'm with Frodo and Sam in Ithilien.

I'm in the palace library of Raine trying to decipher an Alphabet of Thorn.

Last night I started to run around Louisiana with Faythe Sanders in Stray - currently enjoying the trip quite a lot.

#11 - I really enjoyed that one when I picked it up last year; as a McKillip fan (which I see you are from your profile page), have you read it before?

I just finished Nightingale's Lament by Simon R. Green. It's a little bit of a step down from the previous Nightside book, but it's still good.

I'm in New Amazonia reading Carnival by Elizabeth Bear. I'm pretty sure it was recommended on this group in another thread but I can't find it. I wanted to say I'm really enjoying it so far.

I've recently finished "The Gathering Storm" and have made a mental note to prepare a complete glossary before book 13. At present I am halfway through Trudi Canavan's "The Magician's Apprentice". I still have a few books on my 'Next to be read' shelf but as my children have started phoning with "What do you want for Xmas?" queries I have been looking at what book suggestions I can give. The first to go down is Katherine Kerr's "The Silver Mage".

I just finished another quick journey to Mahapura with Tamar in The Iron Ring, and enjoyed the trip very much. Review to come shortly.

I just finished The Gathering Storm, too, Navigator7 (no, touchstone, not the Winston Churchill one!) What did you think? I thought Brandon Sanderson did a great job, and that this one had the pace and interest level of the early books in the series.

I better avoid this thread for a few days - I just started The Gathering Storm! (hopefully the correct touchstone - hit others and it is the third one down)

I'm splitting my time between a dark Neverland in The Child Thief by Brom and experiencing a different Seattle (I already live there) in Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs.

Just left America (California > San Francisco) and Europe, particularly France, with The Sorceress by Michael Scott and not sure where I'm going next..

Having finished The Gathering Storm and been impressed by the quality of Brandon Sanderson's writing, I have started Mistborn.

I am now reading Undead and Unworthy by Mary Janice Davidson. It is book 7 in the Queen Betsy series. It is romance, humor fantasy. The POV is a good hearted Valley Girl type who dies and comes back as the queen of the vampires.

I hope you enjoy Mistborn. I like Brandon Sanderson's writing even better than Robert Jordan's. I'm so looking forward to The Gathering Storm!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Gathering Storm and will be reading more of Brandon's work. I also enjoyed the Magician's Apprentice. At present I'm 2/3 rds through Poison Study by Maria V Snyder. The 2nd of this trilogy is already on my bookshelf and I've just added the last one to my Xmas list.

I recently picked up the boxset for The Mistborn Trilogy as I'm waiting for the paperback of The Gathering Storm. Wanted to check out his work as he is generally well regarded anyway. Will be making headway into this in the not too distant future.

#47...I very much enjoyed Mistborn! So much so that I wanted to go straight from that one into The Well of Ascension and was sad that I didn't have it available. So I'll be heading to the bookstore today after work to pick up the next two!

I'm in old London with the young adult steampunk novel, The Hunchback Assignments by Arthur Slade. Also, in purgatory with Tsuzuki in volume 5 of the Descendants of Darkness manga series.

I'm in various parts of Greece and the Greek underworld in Alcestis.

I'm with Bod in The graveyard book by Neil Gaiman. It deserves the prizes it won.

I just read the reprint of Ariel by Steven R. Boyett. It was good and fairly absorbing, though it didn't blow my socks off.

Just made a start on Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson.

Finally received my copy of The Gathering Storm this weekend and have got a good start on it. I'm impressed with what Brandon has done so far, and I've got almost all his other books so I already had high expectations.

I'm waiting for Xmas to finish the 'Study' trilogy and I've used Alison Croggon's Pellinor series to bridge the gap. I'm two thirds through "The Riddle" at present but I'm going to have to slow down a bit as books 3 & 4 are also coming at Xmas.
