This profile: is a companion to my original thegreattim. The point of this is a reading list and since I do not want to corrupt my library data, I started a new profile. This is a complete list of every book I have ever read. (Although I am sure I am missing many earlier read works!) Looking at my low numbers makes me wish I had not spent so much time re-reading books when I was younger! Oh, what I have missed... Anyway, please feel free to make recommendations or suggestions in the comments section!!!

Tietoja kirjastostani These are only books I have read. While I own some, most I do not. (Although I wish I did) As apposed to my personal library profile, (see "about me" above) where I am meticulous about book data, here I am going only for the cover art of the original edition I read. There are a few rules I set up when I started compiling this life time list in Feb. '03 which are as follows:

1. The book has to have more space dedicated to words than pictures. (Ocassionaly subject to debate) (If it does have a lot of pics, text alone should be in the range of 100 pages)
2. I have to remember major plot points of these books (if I am unsure, I do not list it)
3. Regardless of how the book was published, if it is a trilogy and I read it as three books, it counts for three. If I read in one compilation, it counts as one.
4. Short stories don't count unless published in a collection. Then they count as one. For a novella to count in should be in the neighborhood of 100 pages.
5. After much deliberation I have decided that, as long as they are unabridged, audio books will count as well. This includes books podcasted serialy, but not short-form podcasts; only complete novels. Well, pretty much the same rules as above, but for audio (4+ hours for shorter works would qualify... you get the idea).

Tagging: will be based on year read, followed by author's last name. Also included sometimes is the tag ***, which is a qualifier I am using for my favorite book by any given author. Obviously if I have only read one book by someone, they automatically get the "fav tag" for that book. As far as the year tag goes, sometimes it's a guess/approximation for the older works. Lastly is the either the tag "In Hand" for books I've read or "By Ear" for books I've listened to.

Reviews, a note: Any books I review that I own are over on my thegreattim profile. Any books I review that are not owned will be on this profile.

Hi, Tim.

We are now up to 169 books in common! :-)
(per your other page, not this reading list page)

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll keep it in mind, although my "to be read" list is a little long at the moment. I'm slowly catching up, though! Those 2+ years in school really set me back. (So be ware!)

Take care,
John
Hi, Tim.

No problem on the reading list(s) image idea! It's actually a variation of an idea I got from another LT member, and she was kind enough to give me tips on how to do the code (since I'd never done that before).

Take care,
John
Hi, I like the nifty progress meter on your 50 Book Challenge posts -- went to the zokutou site but can't get it to work. Do you know -- is it only operational during NaNo? Do you have suggestions for other sources? Thanks in advance!
I got some great ideas on what to read next thanks to your thorough catalog and your ratings. Thanks much.
Well, I don't have a lot of books on my list, so 13 in common is a lot for me.
Hmm, I see what you mean. I experimented on my profile, though, and the image comes up (okay, it's not a great image, but that's a different story). I did notice that there doesn't seem to be an image on the Book Info page for your book, though there is one on the Social Info page, though I don't see that that should make a difference. (Unless you used the link from the Book Info page and then the image was deleted?)
Yeah, I agree with the abridged part. I don't include audio books if they ar abridged. I have to admint that sometimes I have to "rewind" as my thoughts sometimes wanders of as well. It's summertime here in Norway so I sometimes walk to/from work, thats when the audio book comes in handy...its hard to read while walking...hehe...

The bookshop I work in is the students bookshop, so I make sure they get their text books they need for all the language courses at the University of Bergen.
Audio books count for nothing? Why?
