Tietoja minustaI'm an IT professional who's addicted to reading. I have a book or two in progress at all times, and read one to two books per week on average.

People have said to me "You read alot!", in that tone between surprise and suspicion, as though it were an illegal activity. I'm amazed at people who don't read. Really.

Tietoja kirjastostaniWhen I first joined Library Thing, I sat down and logged in all the books I could remember reading. Next I added all the books in the house (and garage) that I had read. Now, I only log in a book once I have read it. Therefore my library is part virtual, part physical.

I don't have the storage space to keep every book I read, so I only keep my favorites.

I acquire books from yard sales, garage sales, charity sales, attics, friend houses(with permission), used book stores, and internet book stores. While new books are great, used books are an adventure, as you never know what will be written in the margins, or what you will find stuck and forgotten between the pages.

Thanks Sunqueen for thinking my library is interesting. Iam reading The Kite Runner now, Ive had it on my shelf forever. I see you gave it 5 stars. Iam finding that Iam angry with what is happing in the book and have to put it down for awhile. But when I pick it up again I can't stop turning the pages. So I guess Iam saying that Iam enjoying it. :)

Hi sunqueen,

Thanks for tagging my library as 'interesting'. I hope you still think so when I get the forty years' worth of railway books added! Though i'm still only up to Clarke in the fiction, and I've not touched the hardbacks yet, so it will be interesting to see what comes out ahead by the time I've finished. (Finished? What's that?)

I see you have a lot to do with software testing; funnily enough, that's one of the tasks in my job description, too, although I'm not an IT professional by any means. But that's the Day Job; what I really want to do is be a freelance photographer. I've left it a bit late to start, but better late than not at all. There's a link to one of my galleries on my profile page.

I've been active in UK SF fandom since my student days, and actually count a couple of authors as personal friends, which isn't bad going. Also, I once worked for A.S.Byatt's first husband!

You have the same odd mix of books that I tend to like and I loved your description of the odd way people react when they "catch" you reading. How people can sit in a waiting room, just staring into space, when there are books to be read, has always been a puzzle to me. Other common denominators: You read more than one book at a time, you don't keep all the books you read and you clearly like used bookstores. Once a year, I work a local used book sale to raise funds for our library. One of the fringe benefits is that I get to reserve some books for purchase but the real joy, for a used book junkie, is just the sheer pleasure of going through heaps and piles of books, some of them very old with the occasional old photo, or note or inscription as a bonus. Thanks for checking in! I was good to hear from you.
