Excuse this intrusion, but I thought you might like to be made aware of the new E.F.Benson group. Please join - the more the merrier!
Hi

I'm glad you think my library is interesting. I think I'm maybe half way through logging it but the trouble is that it's an assault course trying to get at books behind books piled up on books upon books! One day perhaps.

My taste is a little on the eclectic side - most people say it's rubbish but I've always been a greedy girlie who gobbles down all sorts of books, van Gulik and Gaskell to name but two. I never found anyone who'd even heard of them, much less read them, until I found Librarything's wonderfully all-embracing members. Hurrah.
I'd love to have more Barbara Pym. I think owners of her books must hang on to them though as I've only ever seen one in a charity shop, so that's the only one I've read so far. I think I'll have to get the rest via Amazon Marketplace. They are on my very long wish list.

I am really pleased with something I found yesterday, and it would go quite nicely with your Beaton books: Serious Pleasures - the Life of Stephen Tennant by Philip Hoare. I've wanted to read it since reading about ST in a S Sassoon biography but it's out of print and not available in the libraries here, and I couldn't afford the second-hand prices for it. It's a hardback and in excellent condition and cost me only £3.95.

What did you think of the Hyde biography of Oscar Wilde? I noticed you've got it, along with the Neil McKenna one (which I want). I read the Hyde one this week - thought it was very good on Wilde's final years.

Thank you for finding my library interesting. I think yours is - so have put you on my list.
Well, yes, yours is an interesting library.
Most of my Folio books are new but I've also found a few secondhand ones locally, good value for sure.
Thank you for your note and, indeed, the excellent bit of clairvoyance on your part in mentioning Osbert Lancaster. In adding some titles to LibraryThing, I realized that I had only 'Pillar to Post', and his drawings in 'Noblesse Oblige', and in 'Here's England.' As a first step to remedy the gap, 'Drayneflete Revealed' was ordered and should be en route even now.

A quick look at your library does inspire some title envy, and some odd titles in common. A closer look is likely to bring about more than a few booksellers' orders.
'Neuro-linguistic Programming for Dummies'?! 'No!' I thought, but it exists and you're not the only person to own it. You have the best tag for it though.

I was going to have a 'Mystical Shit' tag but then I bottled out.

'Rather Rum' might make a good tag.

I'm very envious of your biography collection.
Dear Red Guy

'old bollocks' - that's the best tag I've ever seen!!! I may have to use it to re-tag some of my books as they certainly fall under that category...
