Tietoja minusta Been a bookworm since I came out of the womb..I have to be reading just about 24/7 (while eating, taking a bath, etc)..The only genre I'm not crazy about is romance. I'm 29, a college graduate, and in management for one of the big supercenters..What I REALLY want to do is write my own stuff (if I only knew where to start) and start an animal sanctuary..

Tietoja kirjastostani why buy bookshelves when you can just buy more books? ;)

My dream is to someday have a huge library, preferably two-story, or at least floor-to-ceiling with my own rolling ladder..I LOVE the biblioporn on here! Great ideas--too bad it's champagne dreams on beer money!

Keep up with me on my readings this year, with my 2008 Challenge: http://www.librarything.com/talktopic.ph...

What did you think of "Darkly Dreaming Dexter"? Seen the show on Showtime?

- Shane
thx for inviting me and adding some of my book to your list i am a real fan of some of the books u have got on your list too.
Hey, hello! I think I must have missed my notification that you had earmarked my library as 'interesting'. I'm so flattered. Please feel free to have a browse around any time you like. Oh yes, that library dream! Only two stories?
Ha, I just read your comment about your dream library, after I posted my comment about wanting one of those. Funny, I guess all of us dream of that!
Tanya-
My books are scattered on a dozen towering bookcases in my apartment and in boxes filling my parents' attic, until I can put them in a permanent library. I dream on one day having one of those huge libraries with the spiral staircases leading up to the second level.
What'd you get from Amazon? It's been awhile since I had enough cash flow to buy a bunch of books at once. I haven't gotten my tax refund yet, but I'm sure much of it will end up in a cash drawer at a bookstore.
Please send any recommendations my way. I love hearing about good books others have read. I'll compare our libraries as well and see if I can come up with some for you.
Talk to you soon!!!

Melissa
Oh, wanted to add...my dream for retirement...starting a shelter for dogs and having a book/coffee/dessert cafe where people can bring their dogs, find a used book, donate to my shelter and/or adopt a dog! Doesn't that sound like heaven?MB
Hi Punkypower, Thanks for saying hello and the interesting libraries nod. I hope to make it even more interesting. Honestly, I haven't even put 1/2 of my library in. It's hard to find the time, but I enjoy it, It gives me a chance to look at all the books I have in boxes around the house, and to take them off shelves etc... I think I have been buying some duplicates. That's the last thing I need to do. It's late so I'm off to bed. I'll be starting my Beatrix Potter bigraphy"A Life In Nature" She is fascinating because she was a powerful woman at a time when it was very unusual for women to have any influence, the Victorian Era. Except for the Queen I guess. As soon as I can I'll check out some of your reviews. Mine are coming along, slowly but surely.Keep in touch! Mary Beth
Hey- Being a fellow twenty-something with similar taste in books I thought I'd say hey. It looks like you've got a wide variety of book genres that interest you, I do as well. And I'm also interested in all genres, except romance. Please send any recommendations my way. Your favorites are ones I enjoy so I'd love to hear more that you think are good.
Happy reading-
M
Hello, punkypower.

I'm really looking forward to reading The Looking Glass Wars. There were a few times that I almost bought it's sequel without having yet read book one. I guess I've put off reading it only because I never read The Looking Glass as a child and have wondered if I should read that first. What do you suppose?

I'm very glad I read Twilight and Inkheart. The Twilight series is absolutely wonderful, and while I've only read the first book in the series for the other book, i'm sure it's series must be good, too. You should give these books a try. On Bookmooch, I mooched many books from people that were the first in different series and am finding all sorts of series that I enjoy. I can't wait to read all the rest of the series to them!

I'm sad to hear Fforde's new book is being pushed back. I wonder why they're doing that. I guess we'll simply have to only have rereads of his books this year. Do you have a favorite book by him?

Thanks. My weekend was great - lots of reading time. Hope yours was great, too! :)
Thanks for joining the group! Feel free to invite your friends, start topics, and generally be as involved as you're interested in being.
I just noticed that you've joined two of the groups that I started, Humor and Short Stories. I'm a little late on the greeting I'm sure, but "Hello" in any case. Always like to see people with common interests.

Happy cataloging to you.
Hi, Punky ~ I saw what you posted in Groups about In Cold Blood. I'm so glad you found it worth reading. :) Your post has inspired me to reread it. (Now, thanks to posts like yours on the LT groups, in addition to Mt. TBR, I've got a teetering pile of TBRRs to get to!) *g*

I'm also glad you liked the Dexter novel. I'm looking forward to the next one (I HOPE there's a third one). Did you see the series on HBO? I watched the first three, which was based (rather closely, with only two exceptions of note) on Darkly Dreaming Dexter, and thought it was good. I don't get HBO, though, and am not much one for TV anyway, so I didn't see the rest of the series, but if it continued to be as faithful to the book as the first three episodes, it was worth watching.
Hello! Glad you joined our group. My collection is not nearly as complete online as I'd like. Too much going on at work lately. But I will keep on it. I'll visit yours someday soon, too. Nice "Just Finished" / "Currently Reading" / "Up next" feature.

These personal collection pages are great! Just like visiting thousands of little indie bookstores without leaving your PC.
You're welcome! She's actually written two other books as well, Night of the Solstice and Heart of Valor, but I think they've been out of print for a long time. I hope you enjoy Dark Visions!
That sizable dent is mostly because I do storytime for 4 year olds once a week. I read a lot of children's books. If you'll notice most of my 50 book challenge books average about 60 pages or less, but for me it's more about rating and keeping track of what I read this year.
I'm a librarian at a local business college, but I get most of my reading list from the public library. My apartment can't really hold anymore book shelves.
I finished the baby-sitter's club books (Kristy's Great Idea and The Truth About Stacey) and they were both fun to read, and surprisingly from what I remember stayed close to the spirit of the original.
Happy reading..
Hiya, punky! Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I just spotted your note buried under a few other! That cute little puppy is now a big drooling dog! We still love her, though. Her presonality hasn't changed one bit.

Hope you are enjoying The Green Dragon!
:o)
Howdy Punky!

I hadn't realized we were both in Louisiana, and Lafayette's not too far from where I usually live (Sulphur)! All the books I've picked for my 50 (except for 5) are ones I already own, so hopefully I can make a sizeable dent in my TBRs!

About GWtW...I hate Scarlett O'Hara. Hate, hate, hate her. Her behavior throughout the book drove me to distraction, but I won't go into detail since you haven't read it yet.

I read about you wanting to start an animal sanctuary, my parents are thinking of doing something similar when they retire (from the army) back to Louisiana, and helping raise endangered animals. Small world!

Back to the drudgery of college life!
Angela
Have you heard about the BSC graphic novels by Raina Telgemeier? I believe they came out in Spring of 06. Haven't read any of them yet, but they are next on my list.
Thanks for joining Crescent City Connection, Punkypower. I see you are in Lafayette. I've been there, and I almost went to grad school at what was then USL.
