Thanks! It is kind of neat to post your faves and then see how many show up in other people's lists. That and my TBR pile has now grown exponentially!
The Yellow Violet

WHEN beechen buds begin to swell,
And woods the blue-bird's warble know,
The yellow violet's modest bell
Peeps from last-year's leaves below.

Ere russet fields their green resume,
Sweet flower, I love, in forest bare,
To meet thee, when thy faint perfume
Alone is in the virgin air.

Of all her train, the hands of Spring
First plant thee in the watery mould,
And I have seen thee blossoming
Beside the snow-bank's edges cold.

Thy parent sun, who bade thee view
Pale skies, and chilling moisture sip
Has bathed thee in his own bright hue,
And streaked with jet thy glowing lip.

Yet slight thy form, and low thy seat,
And earthward bent thy gentle eye,
Unapt the passing view to meet,
When loftier flowers are flaunting nigh.

Oft, in the sunless April day,
Thy early smile has stayed my walk;
But midst the gorgeous blooms of May
I passed thee on thy humple stalk.

So they, who climb to wealth, forget
The friends in darker fortunes tried;
I copied them--but I regret
That I should ape the ways of pride.

And when again the genial hour
Awakes the painted tribes of light,
I'll not o'er look the modest flower
That made the woods of April bright.

Just passing through and liked what I saw. We happen to be neighbors in our great State Of Texas! Jane Austen is my classic favorite as well.

Thank you for your comment. Since you like Hawking's book, take a look at this one also written for laymen. I found it fascinating, and find myself amazed at how much of it I think I understand, and how much it broadened my understanding of particle physics:

I also noticed the 2 books you have by Orson Scott Card. He is just about my favorite science fiction/fantasy author. Among others, I recommend his Alvin Maker series starting with:

I'd love to hear what you think of these...

Ah, the Enid Blyton books bring back a lot of memories from when I was young. I loved them! I inherited my mothers copies of these books and have kept them for all these years. Sadly, I don´t have room for them in my book shelves now, so they are hidden in the cellar.... :-) I see we share 200 books, and although that is not very much, considering the staggering amount of books you have in your library, I was hoping you´d be my LT-friend.
Great to hear... Thanks for the friendship and I hope you enjoy the books!
I am a mystery/thriller junkie. I also like westerns by Louis L'Amour and the Sudden series, sci-fi by Asimov and Clarke as well as good fiction and classical literature. About the only books I cannot and will not read are romance novels.

My daughter loves reading too so I am always on the lookout for children's books for her as well. I love the Enid Blyton books.

Some of my favourite authors in the mystery/thriller genre are Alistair Maclean, Agatha Christie, Desmond Bagley, Clive Cussler, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Dorothy Sayers, Jonathan Kellerman, John Sanford, Ed McBain, Jeffrey Deaver, Michael Connelly, Dean Koontz, Stepen King, Martha Grimes. In the classics/literature genre, I like Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Harper Lee, Ernest Hemingway
