My profile picture is a frame from my film "Transfigured," a 35mm art film produced by the NFB in which I animated the paintings of the eminent Canadian Westcoast modernist Jack Shadbolt. This frame is composed from three (plus) of his paintings. Shadbolt studied briefly under Emily Carr. He died at the age of 89 shortly after the film premiered. He loved the film, which uses matching actions and metamorphosis to take you through a surreal world composed entirely of his paintings, taken apart and animated to express them visually. To get images of your books in the "About Me" section do the following (thanks to GreyHead for originally helping me with this):

1. Get the permanent link of the book (right click on the link at the bottom right of the book's social information page, do properties, copy the URL).

2. Get the book cover link (right click on the book cover on the same social info page, do properties, copy the URL).

Use link #1 for the href tag, and link #2 for the src tag in the example below:

I found "A Thousand Years" quite interesting in several respects. He uses the ideas of complexity theory (which I'm familiar with) to analyze history, biology, and language. I found the discussion of markets and early economic systems most interesting since these were new ideas to me. I was really looking forward to parts 2 & 3 after I had finished part 1 but admit they were a bit of a let down. Perhaps because I was more familiar with the material. Nevertheless the book gets high points for interesting ideas, tangents to other ideas and books, and new perspectives. I plan to write a review soon. Send me your email (gregfromgilbert@yahoo.com).

I've tried to rate only the books I've read completely. I've started several others in my library but not finished them. Of the ones we share, I've read about a third, and started 10 more. I haven't listed all my books yet, and look forward to LT implementing their collections so I can list "read but not owned", and "like to read or buy", etc. Thanks for saying hi: I'll try to peruse your library soon!

We have a very high overlap considering the size of your library. A lot of similarities in slightly off-beat areas. Have you read most of your books?
