I like books that start me on a trip. The biggest last year started with the 'Piano Tuner' by Daniel Mason. Excited,I cast about for MORE BURMA.I had 'The Glass Palace' by Amitav Ghosh. More! Trotted off to Lotus Books,he had a small stack of Nat'l Geos 1931,1940...then Burma itself went into lockdown and the "historical novels" I'd been reading came a whole lot closer. I'll be looking for Emma Larkin's 'Finding George Orwell In Burma'.*FOUND IT*

It's not exclusive,I'm still reading in all directions.
Before that was[head-long]by [[Michael Frayn]],featuring
Bruegel,who of course I knew of, but now I was on more intimate terms,so now I was delving into all things Bruegel.One of my favorite finds in this regard is actually lifted from the children's section; 'Valentin and Orsen',retold and illustrated after B. by Nancy Ekholm Burkert --Wonderful!

Tietoja kirjastostani Thousands of books,I last saw the kitchen table,the floor,the dresser-top...around about Thanksgiving 2006,shortly after moving here. This listing-tagging thing--it's fun. I love watching the tag cloud grow and change--sometimes the words combine word-soup style and make little sentences,little poems. Haiku pieces. So at least for now, I'm using it to explore my stacks and boxes and self instead of just listing everything. I'm still acquiring but I'm trying to "get a grip".(Ha.) -E.

The last couple years I'm reading alot of 'fiction' based either in the far east or by writers from there,
and collect art books both western-Hopper,Cornell,Cezanne,Bruegel,.... and anything from another culture,especially if it's in a non painting on canvas medium.ie Indonesian shadow puppetry,Alaskan weaving,..
