You'll love it. I've read it already, and I'd have to say it is one of the best.
In case you're not aware it exists, I picked up The Varieties of Scientific Experience: A Personal View of the Search for God (2006) by Carl Sagan. Therein, Ann Druyan edited and published his 1985 Gifford lectures. I can't wait to read it.
Recommended: The Night Is Large: Collected Essays: 1938-1995 by one Martin Gardner.
I saw an episode of Charlie Rose on public television (ETV) recently, and his guests were E.O. Wilson and James Watson. Based on your previous comments, you're guaranteed to enjoy it. You can view the whole thing here.
I also like those authors. Kaku is more on the fringes as far as his speculations, but he writes well. Shermer is an extremely convicing.
Regarding my opinion of Paul Davies, I'd say that his writing style is comparable to Stephen Hawking (I picked him because it seems you've read at least one of his books and rated it). He's not a particularly gifted writer, unlike Carl Sagan for instance, but I have every reason to believe that his works are accurate, excluding any speculation on God(s) for which no one has any evidence for anyway. Having said all that, I'm not a super fan of his books simply because of the dry writing style. Again, that is just my opinion. :) Do you have a favorite non-fiction author?
Hey, lordurza. In response to your post on my profile page, those books tagged @wishlist are books which I have yet to scrounge up the money to purchase. I plan to purchase most of them in the future, yes!

As for Paul Davies' Are we alone?, I rated it 3 stars. Today the book isn't very useful, as it doesn't provide any new ideas. I feel it is pretty dated as a book on the existence of extraterrestrial life.
