Tietoja minusta My name is Karin. I am a library media specialist at a middle school in Norman, OK. I have been married for 11 years and have two dogs. I enjoy reading, watching TV and movies, and working on the computer. I am currently working on my Ph.D. in Reading Education so I keep pretty busy. Reading relaxes me and takes my mind off the many things I have to get done.

Tietoja kirjastostani I love reading books written for young adults. Right now, my favorite is Twilight by Stephenie Myer. I also totally love the Uglies Triology by Scott Westerfeld.

As far as books I read not associated with work, I enjoy paranormal romance, particularly vampire and werewolf. Authors like Laurell K. Hamilton, Maggie Shayne, and Charlaine Harris. I also enjoy the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher. I tend to go in phases. I'll get on a kick with a new series and read everything I can get my hands on by that author, but then I'll move onto something else.

Hi.. I liked An Open Vein, in particular the simplicity in the way it was told. I felt I was there with him, and could feel all that was happening. But then I do know the author, so I may be a little biased! lol How did you find it?
I had to say hello, as you're the only person with An Open Vein listed that I don't know. So, hello. :)
Did you see that the second Morgansville vampires book is coming out in April? I can't wait. I had an interesting email from Rachel Caine about the end of Glass Houses too, apparently she didn't mean for it to be that much of a cliffhanger.
Sorry about the delay on hearing back from me, I haven't been on lately. Anyways, there is a website called the Twilight Lexicon (http://twilightlexicon.com) and if you haven't heard of it you defintaly should check it out. Anyways, it's something that the admins there set up, and we ended in a local Hampton Inn rather than a resturant but there was just a pizza party and what not, definately a fun time ^^
Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
They seem to have a lot of different covers for the Geogia Nicolson books. I also liked the cartoony type ones, especially the one with Angus' kitten on the cover with the glasses. The live model ones are okay too. I think the model they picked to represent Georgia was pretty dead on.
I finished Snatched by Pete Hautman. It was a good book and although it was set in high school I think that it would probably appeal to grades 5-middle school more than high school. It was a cute mystery, very easy to read and I didn't guess the end (but then again I never figure anything out on my own LOL).
If you have a myspace you should send over a friend request :-) I think she was willing to take pics with everyone that had brought a camera...she's just nice like that. You'll have to let me know how the book festival goes!
I'm reading I am the Messenger now. I've just gotten past his finishing the first card. It's very different than what I usually read. Nary a vampire or a demon in sight LOL I haven't read the other books you mentioned, but I have heard of the Adventures of Fan Boy and Goth Girl (I think that's what it was). After Messenger Glass Houses by Rachel Caine and Snatched by Peter Hautman are next on my list.
I just finished The Last Days. It was pretty good. I don't really think you would need to read Peeps to understand it, except that reading Peeps would allow the reader to be more knowledgable than the characters about what is going on. It is a completely separate story. I did like Peeps a bit better, it was a bit more personal. I didn't really connect as much with the characters in this book although the story was interesting and strong enough to compensate for the loss.
I'm starting The Last Days tonight. I read Peeps about a month or two ago and it's still relatively fresh in my memory. I'm looking forward to it :-)
I really did like A Certain Slant of Light, except as you said, the ending. I felt really bad about the hosts being left with the repercussions of what the ghosts had done with their bodies. But, on the other hand, it wasn't as though they were better off before the ghosts used them as hosts. It was kind of a catch 22 situation. Had they never been used, their spirits would probably have just faded away. But, now they are left with an unchangable situation that they can't remember the cause of. (I'm trying not to give too much away in case anyone else reading this wants to read the book as well).
Hi! Yes, I do think we have very similar reading tastes. I also love the Sherrilyn Kenyon books, although they are not in my catalog. Although I havn't read any Anita Blake, I've heard good things about them.

I saw you have A Certain Slant of Light on your list. I'm curious, what did you think of the book?
