Tietoja minusta I am what I am

Tietoja kirjastostani It is what it is.

If you see a rating, that means I've read the book. If you don't see a rating, that means either I haven't read it yet or don't remember it well enough to rate it...which means I should probably read it again. All the books listed here are on my shelves, however...and a few are sitting on the floor, 'cause I have no more room on the shelves. But does that stop me from buying more? Nooooooooo.

Regarding the ratings (I'll flesh this out more later), I pretty much start from a four-star scale. A book can be technically excellent and deliver the goods. Obviously, I have books I rate higher than four stars. These are works that I feel are worth more than something that is merely "excellent". Five stars means it reaches a certain level of transcendence for me on a personal level. 4 and a half is somewhere between those two. Three is a good, decent read. Two is not so much. One is just awful and it would be a rare thing, indeed, for me to recommend anything that low.

Regarding tags, I make some distinctions with tags that may not be very common. Alternate history denotes fictional stories in an alternate history. Alternative history contains books that offer an alternative version of history on this earth using facts and speculation that orthodox historians either don't or won't take into account. Likewise, supernatural refers to fictional works and creatures while paranormal refers to things that are being studied in our world, usually consisting of things that leave evidence such as ghosts, UFOs, and cryptozoological creatures.

Paranormal weekend? sounds like a blast for sure. will you be telling about it somewhere?

Hey Kaw, I need an opinion. What do you think of the Star Wars, Legacy of the Force books? My son (12) just recently bought Sacrifice. I'm not totally sure it's suitable from the description. I know I should probably read it BUT it's Star Wars and I fell asleep during Return of the Jedi!
I still own my original 2XL!
Those eyes are still creepy...

Man! I haven't chatted with you in a LONG time! How goes it?

Apropos of nothing, what do you think of Vince Neil? I love his studio voice, but for farts sake, his live vocals? Half the time he's just shouting gibberish into the mike in high falsetto. Just a small rant. Whatta think of the new single? Personally, I love it.
Thanks for your comment, Kawika. For some reason, I thought "Your Library" meant books you were currently reading or recently read. Yes, I am dense that way :D Your library seems impressive!
Just wanted to drop a note to say congratulations on getting selected for 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future. I've spent some time in northern California, and in fact went to College of the Siskiyous at the base of Mt. Shasta. Although I'm pretty opposed to astrology, this looks like an interesting read and I have to say Mt. Shasta is pretty magical. It's one of those special places like Sedona. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to reading your review. I was selected for Gifts From The Child Within: A Recovery Workbook.
Your right I did add in the description, and I wasn't paying attention about the Changling the Lost, the user who added it made it 2.3 and I used it. Mage the Awakening should be 2.3 and changling should be 2.4, I'll start making these changes. As far as the differences between Ascension and Awakening if you really want to add the 's' to MtA go ahead but I would just tend to add the 'w' to the nWoD Mage. I'll update the description to take this into account.
Thank you so much! I had a great birthday and I didn't get any older! :)

I hope you had a great Christmas!
So, I'm sitting here behind a pile of books I ordered from bookcloseouts.com. Thanks for the tip! That site rules!
Hi kawika - Yes, I'd be glad to try to help you with LC classification questions. Let me warn you first that I haven't used LC on a daily basis since library school, ten years ago. I work in a small special library now, and our system there is "home-grown." But I actually LOVE classification, it's endlessly interesting to me. I wish I'd seen your comment before leaving work today, I would have brought my cataloging & classification textbook home with me so I could review the basics. ;-) But sure, whenever you have a question on it, fire away, and I'll do my best to help!
hey kaw, i'm finally in chat again and YOU'RE NOT. how come?
it's lonely in here all alone.

rosie's nice but she doesn't say much.

how's that armour working out for you? *giggle*

Hey there, kawika. hey! stop staring at me! I won't touch your RPGs I swear! ;)

It was nice talking to you in the GD chat. Sorry to have left so soon. I got disconnected and couldn't get back in again. lol. Not so surprizing really, since that was the first time I had actually been able to get in there while someone other than My Girl Rosie was there.

Anyways, I enjoyed our conversation. It was nice meeting you and so great to have someone to complain to about the recent BookMooch disaster that wouldn't chuck me in the head with a cardboard box for even bothering to join the site. *chuckle* Ah well, c'est la vie. Live and yearn and all that stuff. blah blah blah.

Take care & hope to chat again soon. :)

By the way, your profile picture creeps me out. I feel like I’m being watched the entire time I’m visiting. Is that so people don’t steal books from your library?
Oh yeah! I could I have missed your tags? Wow! I'm the type who could totally get into that sort of RPG game -- I just haven't done it yet. Well, I played D&D a little bit when I was younger, with my brothers. Though, they kicked me out of the game because I insisted on being a pretty fairy.
So, are you into Star Wars role playing, or did you buy it because you love Star Wars? I have the RPG book too. I bought it because I was going to use to help me with a forum-based Star Wars RP site ... but I've never RPed the way the book intended... and my website isn't finished yet ... I'll never finish, I swear. :P
