on a regular day i teach...not very much.

on a better than the average day i teach a small amount of literature and writing to 9th graders, but it all leaks out of their heads just before the bell rings ending class.
ugh--i never know who hates huck finn more--my students or myself.
ah, a The The quote on HH... excellent.

Sits back on his new leather chair, ripped off the back of some unfortunate beast... i'm smiling through my teeth.
Hi inky, thanks for illuminating my unknown quote, not to mention the gratuitous bonus quote. Much appreciated!

Can i return the favour? Your "real name" is a quote (and song title) by Men At Work - n'est pas?
Hi inkdrinker,
What makes a pb a crummypb? Is it the contents or the print design/quality or the condition of the copy?
webecca
Great links in the Book Arts thread. Thank so much!
Hi, I came over here because of your post at censorship? grrrrrrrrrrr!, but I see you have Rogue Moon cataloged as rouge moon. Was that intentional?
I've never finished Huck Finn and I think I'd rather gnaw my own arm before being forced to read Moby Dick. Gosh, it feels so liberating just to finally admit that!
If you need a book 'babysitter' I'll keep your books safe and well read if you need me to. Then you can get them back after you move. :)
You know, for a literary web site, your name makes you sound quite daredevil. I approve most vociferously!!
Well, I have more than 60 it's just a matter of remembering them all and trying to get them all in... But 4,000... Woo, go Inky. But I'm gonna try to give you a run for your money!
Thanks for pointing me to this place. I know, I know -it took me long enough. But see, I'm slow but trainable. Email me!
Eeew... Cream of Wheat! I object! It's a matter of principle! A matter of ethics! A matter of gooey texture!!! Yech!
Ah ha! Your devilish plan to show me how to get to this site has fiendishly worked! Wait... oh, sticklebits. How am I supposed to stand in a dashing pose and look triumphant if I fell for your dastardly plot? I'm so bad at being a super-hero. Evil mastermind it is, then. Mwahahahahaha!

Tag! You're it!

*tags inky with a bowl of oatmeal and runs out of the room*
I saw that you listed Amis's The Rachel Papers as a favorite. I too really liked this book. I remember thinking it was some sort of cross between Confederacy of Dunces and Catcher in the Rye (or something like that, it's been a little while). I have been only ho-hum about The Information and House of Meetings, his recent book. I do want to try more of his work. Any suggestions?
Why did you delete all of your contributions to the Atheists and FAITH thread?
I think it was the Yukio Mishima books that swung you my way. :)
Just had to drop you a note to let you know you are my only 99%er I've found so far! The Clam is a close second at 98.
Howdy!

To me, an unread book on my shelves is worse than seeing a shirt in my closet I bought months ago that still has the tags attached, it just looks so unloved! Also, I'm a college student who hasn't had a job in more than a year, so I really don't need to be buying books. Oh I can't wait for this semester to be over...

Happy Reading!
Thanks for your message about Sax Rohmer and Edgar Wallace. Both as you say are difficult to find in good condition, however in the case of Sax Rohmer I have found a few titles published by Wildside Press www.wildsidepress.com .These are rather nice editions too.
The Edgar Wallace titles that I have are indeed not easy to find at all. Most have been from book-dealers in London and across the country by post and the web.The only thought I have that may help you is to get in touch with the Edgar Wallace Society,to which I used to belong, and from where I made several contacts for Wallace titles. My last contact was however in 2001 so may well be outdated by now. Contact Penny Wyrd,84,Ridgefield Road,Oxford OX4 3DA United Kingdom.misspennywyrd@edgarwallace.org In the society magazine The Crimson Circle there were several lists of books for sale and these not over expensive either.
Hope that the above may be of help but in any case please contact me again if I can give you any more info.
Regards
Thanks!
you should read inkheart because it is a book about books!
:) We share 17 books~

Books about books? The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
It's so cool to e-see my former students at LibraryThing! I'd love to e-see you in the doctoral program! Keep readin'!
ive just now started entering books and i came across your page because we had books in common. you mentioned you liked books about books and i wanted to recommend a good one. its called 'a passion for books: a book lovers treasury of stories, essays, humor, lore, and lists on collecting, reading, borrowing, lending, caring for and appreciating books' by harold rabinowitz and rob kaplan (whew!) you wont be sorry - i underlined the shit out of my copy!
