Tietoja minusta I'm a mid-30's-something married, working mom of 2. I love reading, always have, and never feel like I have enough time to do as much of it as I'd like. I'm a rather addicted BookCrosser (screen name the same there) and am constantly having to defend myself when my husband complains that I'm spending too much time with "that book stuff".

Currently Reading:

Tietoja kirjastostani Constantly adding to my library -- most all of my books are used. I rarely buy a new book! You can find me frequenting library sales, garage sales, and Goodwill, and I'm esp. fond of the clearance section at Half Price Books. My tag system is simple, but it works for me!
I am most generally a reader of fiction, but am not exclusive to that genre. I also read approximately half of my selections on audio, as I'm in the car a lot with my job.
Please leave a comment if you're so inclined, and if you have any recommendations based on similar interests, please feel free to pass those along to me as well!

Heya, just checking to see if you got "Songs for the Missing"... no hurry in reading it lol, but sometimes the mail sucks so I'm hoping you got it.
Hi Coleen, News certainly travels fast on LT! Yes, indeed, I did rate Edgar Sawtelle as a 5-star book. It had a huge emotional impact on me. I just fell into his world and way of thinking. It helps that I'm a dog lover and believe that dogs communicate with us on many levels if we give them a chance. I think the author must be a genius as I was even mesmerized by detailed explanations of breeding dogs. But this is so much more than a dog book. I just finished writing my review on my profile page. I purposely didn't give too much of the story away as I hope many readers want to experience the book in their own way. Let me know what you think if you read it.
hi there

According to my computer it says that our libraries are the same. You have a ton of books. Have you read most of them?
I'm notoriously bad at getting things in the mail, and I know I said I would last week... but I didn't put your book into the mail until today. Lol sorry. But you'll get it soon :)
Thanks for your comment on my pic. It's a stock photo of the library at Trinity College. I've never been there, but I like to joke that that's a picture of the library I hope to have in my house one day. ;) I also have to point out that there's a strange coincidence that your user name has "88" in it which is the number of books that we share! (And plenty of my favorites in common as well!) Thanks for saying hi! Cheers!
Thank you for your interest in my library. We do seem to have many books in common. I, too, enjoy the book search at garage sales, used bookstores, and --the mother lode-- library book sales. I'm off for a week end in Kansas City tomorrow to see my grandson get baptized and, lo and behold, there just happens to be the Johnson County FOL book sale. I won't get there until the last day, but I figure all the popular mainstream books will be gone and make it easier to get the ones I'm really interested in. Just love all that "book stuff!" ~Donna~
Hi Colene, did you get a lot of goodies this weekend at the booksale? I'm sorry I missed it! I'll keep it in mind for next year.
Sounds good, I'll send it out this week :)
Hey, still interested in "Songs for the Missing"? You're the only one who responded so it appears you can take your time with it lol! Just a reminder, I called it a bookring (meaning eventually I'd like it back). If you're still okay with that then send me a private message with your name and address and I'll send it out to you :)
Thanks for the info on the booksale, however, I will be at my cousin's wedding. This is also the weekend of Printer's Row bookfair in Chicago. So many things going on and I can't go to any! I would be interested in the next book sale. I'll be in IN in two weeks and driving through in 3. As for audiobooks, I am now downloading most of them from audible.com. I would like to trade suggestions but can't really trade the actual books since they are downloaded right to my ipod. Take care, Erin
I just started listening to What the Dead Know by Laura Lipman and noticed you have already listened to it. I have to admit that I was starting to become dazed listening to her voice. I had to shut it off for a while. How did you like it?
Hi there,
I enjoyed checking out your library! I see you are reading Stolen Child, are you enjoying it. I was sad to see it end.

Heather
thanks so much! he is a cutie and loves to read just like his parents!
Hi there!
I just loved The Stolen Child, hope you're enjoying it!!

Thanks for adding me! I share the same fondness of looking for books at garage sales and the clearance at half price books is my favorite kind of shopping. I am looking forward to getting recommendations by browsing your library.
It means they are still out with the book marks in them, but I haven't picked them up in months!

I like to look at other winners libraries, too. It just confirms my suspicions on what that algorithm is really looking for. ;o)
Coleen, if you're obsessed with bookcrossing, you should try bookmooch (www.bookmooch.com). It's a book swapping site. Between that and library thing, I'm so addicted it's a struggle to get any reading done! (Your library is the first that appears on libraries similar to mine).
Hi, I was browsing your profile from the books we share link, and saw Bookcrossing. I was really intrigued, so I joined. At the time I joined I didn't say where I heard about bookcrossing. This was last Saturday. I have set 8 books free, and one has already been caught! I would like to give you credit for my budding addiction. Do you think there is a way to edit how I found out about bookcrossing on their web?

Hi Coleen!

I loved looking through your library. We have around 125 books in common! I noticed that you own The Secret History. If you loved it, as I did, you might really enjoy Gentlemen & Players by Joanne Harris. Like The Secret History, it is set in an academic institution and has elements of suspense. I really loved it.

Seeing as our reading interests are so similar, I'll definitely check back to see what you have been reading!

- Brianna
Hello from a fellow Lafayette book lover! I was checking out the local area, and noted that we have a lot in common. I have probably been the one nudging you out of the way at Goodwill at some point in time. ;)
I also love to go to the clearance section at Halfprice books. I think that we should send lots of letters to try and get them to build one here in Lafayette! On second thought, they might be way to dangerous for me.
Thanks for the comment. I agree, we have very similar tastes! I have checked out your library in the past.
Hello,
We share many books and several favorites, especially The Time Traveller's Wife. I enjoyed perusing your library.
Mel
Thanks Coleen. Is it snowing by you yet? We are just getting pounded. I will actually be in IN next week, I travel for work and that is one of 8 states that I cover. I just finished The Constant Princess, it was not one of my favorites. I'm off to shovel now, have a good night.
Hi Coleen, I am new to LT and just noticed that we have 47 books in common. I have added your library to my watch list!
Wow, that sounds like fun. What kind of books does your club read and what are they reading currently? I think I have a bit of an obsession but I justify it by buying a lot of $1 books and half-priced ones (and often used off Amazon) but there aren't a lot of people I know personally who are obsessed with books like I am. I had a book club going for about 2.5 years but to be honest, nobody in it keeps up and I'm kind of tired of pushing it to continue. I'd prefer to be an active member of an established club where I don't have to set the pace! What are you reading right now?
Hi Coleen,
I'm in Fishers and it sounds like we have a lot in common. I too frequent the Half Price Bookstores and for a while I was doing Bookcrossing dropoffs, but nobody ever logged on with the books I left!!!!! Do you participate in any local Book Clubs?
Thank you for your lovely note to me about Josephine B. (This was some time ago, but I'm just now catching up.)

Hi Colleen!

Thanks for adding me as a friend. I don't show on your list of "members with your books," but I wasn't suprised to see that you're up rather high on mine! Love hanging out at your BXing shelf to lust after books, and I'm sure I'll be exploring your library here as well! =)

- Megan
Hi there! I am with you... never buy new when you can get used!
Clearly, you have good taste in authors :)

I saw you in my members with box, and came over to have a look.
I know about Bookcrossing and think its great. I am registered, but have only had a go with it a time or two. I either trade books, donate them to the humane society for their book sale, or trade them... give them, etc..

Anyway... hi there!

kath
Cool! You have great taste too!
Hi, Colleen: You did write me, but I can't find your message either. Perhaps one of my darling sons accidentally deleted it. Sigh! Great to hear from you. I think LT just added "interesting libraries," "friends" and other options this week. I am still playing around...How is the reading going?

=) Jill
How did you like Anansi boys? We seem to like the same books. : )
Hi, Coleen: I am a new user to this site and noticed we have some books in common. And I am working mother of two too! Feel free to look over my catalogue (that I am still building - it's hard to remember everything I've read!) and make any recommendations!

It's nice to meet you!
Jill
Hi Coleen,

Thank you for your enthuastic note on my LT page! I see that we read and love many of the same novels.

Cheers,

Sandra Gulland

P.S. If you want me to include you on the newsletter mailing for my next novel, send me an email through my web site (www.sandragulland.com).
Hi Coleen,
As with others here, we share many books in common. I will look forward to learning what else you will be reading --- and I am happy to share if I would ever get off this web-site and back to my bookshelves!
Happy holidays,
Laura
Hi Coleen, we share quite a few books, and I loved looking at your TBR list!
I should have waited before I sent my first message. I like the way you catagorize your books, ex. book club 2006,etc... I think I am going to revise some of mine. I am in three book clubs and am secretary to 2 of them. Plus I try to read one on my own in between book clubs. My problem is I keep buying new ones and have so many to read. But I am addicted to books and love to read instead of watching the t.v. My two children are teens right now so I have more time than I used to. I think I need to learn how to use the star ratings on mine. Thanks again for your email. Kimberly
Hi Coleen,

Thanks for your comments on my library. I just joined and I really like the site. I will check out your library also. Thanks again. Kimberly
Hi Coleen, I'm just like TanyaReads. After looking at your list, I added even more to my list of books I own or have read. I'll keep checking back to see what you've read since we have so many similarities! Thanks, Beckie
thanks for stopping by my library. it looks like you have some excellent books in your "to be read" stack. enjoy!! ;)
Coleen, I am afraid that I didn't like "The Shadow of the Wind" to give it 5 stars, but I am still glad that I read it. I do agree with you on "The Time Travelers Wife", "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close", "The Lady and the Unicorn", and especially "Life of Pi". Those were all such good books! I am going to start "The Glass Castle" soon. Hope all is well in Indiana!
Hi Coleen! Thanks for looking at my library. We now have more books in common. I was reminded of a couple more books that I had read while perusing yours. I just started "The Shadow of the Wind" because you rated it 5 stars.
Coleen, I'd love to see your ratings of books in your catalog if you have the time to add them and are so inclined. We have a lot of overlap and I'm interested in your opinions of all those great books in your catalog!
Thanks, Jill
