Tietoja minusta I am a practicing and published poet currently living in London. From Idaho originally, where I studied creative writing at the University of Idaho in Moscow. Worked a bit as a writer/editor for a couple of websites in Salt Lake City before stumbling upon libraries as a career.
Love books. Love signed books.

Tietoja kirjastostani Very eclectic reader by nature, but am obsessed with Paris in the 1920s. I fancy myself as some incarnate of Sylvia Beach. I lean towards literary biographies, culinary literature, simple living/environmental books, feminist studies, 20th century fiction, and of course poetry.

I have another library under READnotowned where I log books I've read but never or no longer own.

Picture is "Studio in Montparnasse' by Christopher Richard Wynne Nevinson (exhibited 1926).

It just occurred to me, are you familiar with Virago Modern Classics?
They're a wonderful imprint for obscure and not-so-obscure women
writers. They're celebrating their 30th year this year with some
beautiful hardcover 'classics' available at Waterstones.

Check out their website! You'll see that this month, they've published
"The Bolter" about Idina Sackville!

Yes, more trouble.

Virago Press

And, on LT

Virago Modern Classics Group
There's a wonderful photomontage of Julia Margaret Cameron's
sad and pale ladies here

The violinist is Julian Bell.

Enjoy!

BTW, you can right click on the photo of Idina and copy it to your computer!
Hi Heather,

Yes, I've always been a trouble maker! Since joining LT
for over a year, my library has expanded beyond belief
AND I seem to have less time to read. Of course, I'm
not complaining!! I love it here and in our Virago
Group!

I was looking at cinnamonpress.com this morning and can't seem to
find you. It looks like they don't print poetry online? Perhaps I'm
not looking in the right place. If you're comfortable with sending
some of your poetry to me, I would very much love to read it!

Hope the sun is shining in London today!!

Cate
Hi Heather or should I say, Dear Sylvia!

I've also been fascinated by the Left Bank group for years
and years. In 1989, I made a literary mecca
to Shakespeare and Company and even met the charming
George Whitman. There's a lovely book by Hugh D. Ford
called 'Published in Paris: American and British writers, printers, and publishers'
that has a wonderful cast of expats. If you google Mr. Ford in
'Google Books', you see more info on the book itself.

To answer your question of adding favourite bookshops, etc.,
start at your profile page and click on your location. It
should bring up local venues within a mileage distance (also
changeable). You can then click on any site and select 'favorite this venue'.
Also, if there's a local or favourite bookshop that isn't listed,
you can add it.

I look forward to browsing through your library. I'd also be very
interested in reading some of your poetry. Do you have a website?
By the way, my lovely volumes and I thank you for the compliment!

Kind regards,
Cate

p.s. Lucky you for living in London!!
Hi Heather! I listed the book under the title "A Book Just For HJelliot" :-). My settings have also been adjusted, so mooch away. I will be visiting the post office Saturday and will send to you via the least expensive method (I have no idea what that is, since I haven't sent much to England).

Hope you enjoy the book! :-)

I have to stop by One Good Woman teashop tomorrow to replenish my supply for work. Paris Blend is nearly gone along with the Hot Spiced Cinnamon Tea. The new Cream Earl Grey is really good.

Glad they were able to ship! Enjoy the tea!
Hi Heather, Wow! You have the best of it in my estimation-the "civility" of London & the romance of Paris. I'm a bit green with envy. I must get Belloc's book; thanks so much. I know little of the Marais, because I stay in Passy & wander between there & the 6th. I am only there for a week or 10 days & have to admit I spend a lot of the time lolling about at the café at the end of my block & reading in Luxembourg Gardens. I think of going farther afield, but that's as far as I get-thinking about it! I adore soaking up Paris & just watching the locals passing by is often enough for me. Slothful, I know. Judie
Hi again Heather, In looking at your library, one book, "Paris" by Hilaire Belloc, caught my eye. I remembered him as being connected with the catholic church. I looked him up & I remembered correctly. I also see he was a poet. Will you tell me about this book, please? Amazon has nothing about it. As you may see by my library, I'm not interested in poetry or catholicism. I'm hoping this book is on neither & will be a good addition to my library. Thanks! Judie
Correction: Fitch'sb ook, not Riley. Sorry
Hi Heather, Right back at you! Many thanks for reminding me of Rliey's book. I had seen it several years ago, now will have to get it. On my next trip I hope to go with John Baxter (A Pound of Paper, We'll Always Have Paris) on one of his walks. I found out about him from Terrance Gelenter of paris-expat.com John has one of the world's most fascinating libraries & I am dying to see it.
Do you get to Paris often? I'd love to hear about your experiences there. Wonderful to know another "lost generation" fan. This site has stimulated me to re-read some old faves. Just started Stein's Autobiography of Alice. Cheers! Judie
