Okay, I thought I had a fairly large library (perhaps 2,000-3,000) but since I've joined LibraryThing, I realize I've got a pretty modest collection. Your collection is really interesting and reflects a pretty wide taste in books. I'm impressed.

The first type of ambiguity with shared interests is who you get to share them with. I got Zipf human behaviour and shared this with Noah as he was the only other holder, I get Empson seven types and share with you as I see you share with Noah or I think hey that photo is neat and a shared experience for me too. i only know the first type of ambiguity (I'm not a great reader, i find i think too much about what's coming next)anyhow great dress.

Hi, I notice you have a copy of Adrienne Segur's Snow Queen. I was wondering: is your copy a 2001 reprint or the 1961 version? I ask because I want to buy myself a copy, but I think I would prefer the more recent, 2001, version and yet I can find it absolutely nowhere, not a single used book store sells it. I have begun to suspect it was never published in 2001, but perhaps only intended to be published. It's hard for me to believe there aren't any used copies out there. So I thought I'd ask those on librarything who have one which copy they have. If no one has the 2001 version, it would make the case stronger and I would just order the older copy. Thanks for your help. Sorry to go on so long....Cindy

howdy!

I was poking around with the stats and saw that we share a decent number of books, none of which play into my rpg geekery, so I added you to my interesting libraries list. It seems that we share similar tastes across a decently-sized spectrum. Most of the high ranking people I share books with are either roleplayers or star wars geeks, so I thought it'd be nice to see what someone with similar tastes has outside of those geekospheres.

Alright, Gina.

You finally got me. You're #1 on my "raw" list of users who share the most books with me... in fact you've been at the top since the beginning. 416 books in common to be precise, now. I've watched the numbers warily, for the last year or so I've been on here, and told myself continually to leave you a comment on how impressed I am that we share so many wonderful books. But, that seemed kind of like just giving a compliment to myself (see how my adled brain works?). So, I waited around till after you reached 400+ books we share to think of something brilliant to leave on your page.

Well, so after a long delay, here it is: "Wow". That's it. Just wow. How do you manage to buy all the books I have? Do you just check my page and see which ones I've added recently and then run right down to your local Book Shop and buy them and them to your sprawling mansion of a library? lol. I'm just being silly. Still, it IS a flattering idea to my tiny library (1800) in comparison to your gargantuan 10,550. :)

i just started loading my books and discovered that we share 275 and I haven't even loaded 2000 yet. I see we have a lot of the same cookbooks, classics like herodotus and fun stuff like Agatha Christie. I lived in Puerto Rico for two years, and learned enough spanish to read poetry in dual language books but I read the novels in translation, (being lazy about dictionaries.) Are you a librarian? 'The Road' began stunningly and ended that way. When I walked outside of my house after finishing it I found the sky, and the horizons touching the German fields, to be tainted with a haunting portent imbued to me by 'The Road' (you will know what I mean after you read it).

I am in the process of building a bookstore website to sell these 32,000 books. But the best part is going thru the boxes and cherry picking the ones I want to keep for myself :^)

My apartment is gone, turned into nothing but boxes and boxes of books. It really is heaven...

I know. Each writer can be daunting. I was at a conference given by Prof. Angel Rosa Vélez of the Dept. of Hispanic Studies @ the Univ. of Puero Rico. And he presented
and discussed Borges and Cortazar in his book, La mosca en la botella. His "theory"
is that both Borges and Cortazar in their narratives "deny the affirmation of occidental culture while at the same time presenting an incepient philosophy in
our own narrative." There is more in the book but you get an idea of how dense

Hi Gina, my name is Joe. I am a Chef in N.Y.C. My question is how many cook books do you need for reference or recipies? I would only recomened about a dozen for any gourmet cook, who loves to cook different style foods. A working chef can use as many as he/she can afford, and dont forget the local library. I also collect many books on my ethnic background. I just cant seem to get enough material on this subject. Well enough of me, let me know whats-up with 6000+ books in your massive library :). Joe

Hi Gina -- I noticed that you have a lot of Hispanic titles listed in your catalog, and I thought you might be interested in a book I read recently and fell in love with -- it's called BURNING THE SEA by Sarah Pemberton Strong, and it's only available used on Amazon (I've never seen it in a bookstore). It's set in the Dominican Republic, and it's one of the most beautifully written books I've ever read. I highly recommend it!

hello -

when i clicked on recent additions to users who share the same book titles as
my library yours was on top of the list. you have many of my facorite books
and authors who i though were somewhat obscure. nice to see that they're not
so obscure. nice to see people buying and well as reading.
