Tietoja kirjastostani A personal library is such an intimate thing, isn't it? You can know more about me from seeing which books I collect than you might glean from an hour of conversation. If I'm interested in it, it's here: the children's and young adult lit that you might expect from an incipient children's librarian, as well as all of the other stuff -- random paperbacks of various classics, slightly more impressive copies of the Little, Brown & Company editions of Louisa May Alcott's works from the early 1900's, fantasy, theatre books, mysteries, Shakespeare, Eastern Orthodoxy, a few cookbooks, "Calvin and Hobbes". . .

Have a lovely Orthodox Easter, foggi!

Peace and Laughter,
Cristina
Hi, Foggidawn. Looks like we have a lot of favorite authors in common! Glad you enjoyed Wizard Heir. The good news is, they've moved up the release of Dragon Heir to August 12 from September. You can read the first chapter on my Website.

Thanks again! Cinda Williams Chima
I'd love to be friends, foggi! :)
Few, that's a relief. I'll concentrate more on my analogies then. I know how to do them, but still tend to pick the wrong one. Then I look at the answer and think "duh!"

I'm probably going to go to Drexel. I live near Philly and they have an online program so I could split it and do some online courses and some classroom. They also have a program where you can take archiving electives through Temple. I'm really excited. Here's a concern though...I'm too late to get in for this fall, should I try for Spring, or wait till next fall (when I'll be 30!)
I've been doing a lot of practicing for the GRE. How important do you think the math scores are for Library Science? I'm just curious. It's not that I'm doing badly at them, I seem to average about a 650, but it's not my strong suit and I'm not sure about the time restraints with that one. I know you're not in admissions, but having just completed your studies, I figured you should at least have a pretty good idea of how much math I'm going to need.

Blah, blah, blah. Wow that was boring. Sorry, I'll try to be more interesting in the future!
Ooooo, I'm studying for the GRE because I want to get my MLS, although I'm hoping to do a tract that will let me take some archiving electives. We have a lot of the same books though. My library's only half done because most of my books are still in boxes from the move, so I did my list from memory. I know I have more.

P.S. The Celery Stalks at Midnight is my mom's favorite title for a book ever, I loved those books!
Thanks! Don't think I'm too pathetic, but I was really excited to get a comment from someone that wasn't about Early Reader's or from one of my sisters! I really enjoy the HE, to the point where I almost never check on any of my other groups. It's so great to have other people who understand my obsessions (books in general, HP in particular) and don't judge me for it.

Here's to a continued enjoyment of intelligent (and not) conversation on the HE!
I saw Kerian's post mentioning you were away for an interview. I am holding good thoughts and keeping my fingers crossed for you. I'm sure you'll do well.
Hi Foggi, I was just still thinking about you and wondering how you are doing. I hope you are well but I know it is hard.
Hi foggi. I'm so sorry about your dog. *hugs*
Foggi, K told me your baby was very very sick. As a dog-mom, I know how terrible you feel right now. I am so very sorry, dear foggi :( we are all hurting for you *hug*

love,

suge
I'm so sorry foggi. I'll be thinking of you and your sweet dog today.
Thinking of you and sending many hugs your way.
Hi foggiedawn--I left you a recommendation on the recommend a book thread for the wrong title! (oops) I meant to recommend [The Perilous Gard] by Elizabeth Marie Pope, but listed her other book instead. Both are fun, but [The Perilous Gard] is the better book.

liz
Thanks for the invite to Hogwarts. I'll stop and chat later on. Meanwhile I have to figure out how to keep up with all my chat here, work, sleep, laundry, and quilting? Maybe I should quit my job?
By the way, your dog is precious. My hubby is a vet, and we have 4 Australian Shepherds.
Awww, sleepy doggie. How cute!

Are those library books I see? ;)
ooo, yes, I am very excited to hear there will be one more Madeleine L'Engle book!
Wow!

I just browsed into the "Shared Authors" link and you were my top match with five (and I'd only put in six--Jane Austen, Madeleine L'Engle, C. S. Lewis, L.M. Montgomery, Terry Pratchett, and Dav Pilkey-- and the last I admit I included not so much because I love his work so much as that I have an inexplicable crush on him)... and then I come here and see you've ALSO included all the authors I CONSIDERED also including but didn't (Douglas Adams, Lewis Carroll, Agatha Christie, Robin McKinley, J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Mark Twain) as well as a few I hadn't considered, but now that you mention it, I don't know why not (Dave Barry, Bill Watterson, Oscar Wilde, and P.G. Wodehouse). Hurray for great taste in books!

Indeed; while our libraries may not even cover all of our common interests, I bet we can find them through things like the "next person game" on HE :)

Hi friend!

Still laughing about our taste in literary men!

Peace and Laughter!

Hey foggi!
Thanks for the kind message! I was crazy busy at work and forgot to let all the HE folks know that I was on vacation for the week surrounding New Year's! Went out to California to see the Rose Parade and Bowl game and visited some west coast family too! Sure wishing I could have brought that CA sunshine back to Illinois with me. Back to life as normal (or as normal as can be expected!) now and hopefully I'll be around LT more often in the next few months!
cheers!
-el :)
Hi Foggi! Thanks so much for the b-day wishes! I had lots of fun, but I've MISSED you terribly!! I don't have Internet at home, there is something wrong with my connection or something, who knows... so I'm sneaking in at work. its great to be back!!

hope to "see" you soon!

Gricel, a.k.a. Suge
Nope - nothing you did. I am upgrading my web server and Dobby (and the other bots) were unintended casualties! :O
Thanks, foggi!! :)
Hey foggi! it was great to see you too!

it has certainly been an awfully long time since I've been around. you would be horrified to see how many post i have to catch up on!! *pulls hair*

Hey its k's b-day! lets go beat her up!!
Hi Foggi,
Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries. I've done the same. I have a lot more books in common with you, some day I'll list them!
Hi Foggi!

I'm ok! Sorry I haven't posted or been around lately. I've just been really busy... and in an antisocial mood too, I guess. I wish I had a fabulous book as an excuse for staying away, but I don't lol. I would not have been much fun on lt if I had posted.

Hope you're doing ok! I love, love, love, you guys! And you know you're my lt sister :) I miss you! have lots of fun!
I wish I could set it up now. I'm so afriad of rain or kids ruining it. Knowing me, I just might wait till the 27th to set up. I still need to get those fake roses for Fred and Sev! ;)
Hi, Foggi! I'm so glad your midterms are over. Hope you are getting some much needed and well deserved rest. :)

I wanted to tell you that I finally figured out how to post my photos from my flickr account (similiar to photobucket) in threads on LT. Thanks for the help with that! :)
Hi foggi - Great job solving the riddle! I added you as a writing buddy on NaNoWriMo, hope that's cool. I think seeing other people's progress will encourage me to keep writing!
-el :)
Hey foggi! I've not read I am the messenger yet, but thanks for the recommendation! It's definitely one I'll add to the ever increasing TBR pile!! (Will it EVER get smaller??) I'm going to try to sort out my books today onto separate shelves for books I've read and those still waiting, but I don't think I have a shelf big enough for the TBR! Oh well, at least I'll never be without something new to read!

N
xx
Woohoo, foggi! Never pass up a healthy challenge! I'm still coming up with ideas and if I don't get a decent outline together I don't know that I'll go for it, but if I'm in we can NaNo together! Good luck! :)
Hey FD -
I noticed you're in the NaNoWriMo group. Have you won before? I tried participating last year but never really got off the ground. I think I might give it a go this year! Let me know if you're going to be in on it!
-el :)
My degree program is the music therapy masters degree at Shenandoah University. But my research would be far more difficult if it weren't for wonderful librarian types like you! :)
Thanks for sharing your sense of humor in TGD!
