Tietoja minusta Hi, my name is Brenda Neece, and I'm the curator of the Duke University Musical Instrument Collections (DUMIC). My area of specialization is the history of the cello in Britain. I studied cello with Fred Raimi at Duke University while doing my undergraduate work at UNC-CH. As part of my interdisciplinary major in music history, art history, and archaeology, I wrote an undergraduate honors thesis on the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century evolution of the cello. I earned a master’s in cello performance at Auburn University and then went on for a musicology doctorate at the University of Oxford (Somerville College). While in England I continued my cello studies with William Pleeth. This is my 7th year at Duke. I also serve the university as a faculty-in-residence, an academic advisor, and as an assistant coach to the Duke fencing team. I have recently discovered interests in motorcycles and tennis.
