Tietoja minusta After completing a BA (Hons) way back in the mid 1980s, I worked at various jobs in market research and health research (epidemiology/statistics). In 2004 I did a post-grad library (information science) degree, but I'm yet to find that dream 'librarian' job!

Tietoja kirjastostani My LT library contains mostly books I've read since about the year 2000, which I may or may not still own. It is more a reflection of what I've read, rather than what I own.

I download and listen to quite a few free audiobooks from LibriVox.org, and these are also included in my library.

Finished VICAR on Friday - it got better, but there was still way too much time spent on the Brattles. Let me know what you think.
Well, about 160 pages into VICAR and I ain't lovin' it. Too much time spent on a local ne'er-do-well and a murder, and the romance is very AT-by-the-numbers. So far it's definitely B-list Trollope.

A plethora of hyphens there...
Have you seen the Masterpiece Theater version of Wives and Daughters? Very good adaptation with Michael Gambon as the old squire. I've see it a couple of times and enjoyed it with each viewing. It's out on DVD.
I was thinking about starting one of the new ATs next week - probably Vicar of B. I'm about 1/3 into G.K. Chesterton's "The Man Who Was Thursday," which is a very odd book indeed.
Hi Laura,

Ooh! I am a bit jealous about 44 Scotland Street (why I don't know, as all I have to do is pick up my copy - sigh)!! I am very happy you like it though - I was a bit worried that I would not enjoy them ALL! But I am not sure there is a book AMS has written that I would not enjoy anymore, and now I am confident after your opinion. I have been considering whether to start this series or wait to get the next in the Isabel Dalhousie stories - what a worry!

How are you - I was thinking of you the other day as I was roaming around TBD. I am so proud of myself - I bought nothing that time. Huh! I added a few to my save-for-later; I am wondering how long I can last, hehe.

I was looking at your profile and checked out OZtion. I am totally ignorant of that site but I see you sell quite a bit on it - what about buying? I had to stop myself looking at all the books! Of course I bookmarked it.

Your 50 Book Challenge is looking a shoe-in at the moment; sure you don't want to double it? :) I just watched "Persuasion" on the ABC last Sunday night and I have "Emma" recorded; I am drooling over this Austen feast they are showing now. Are you enjoying the read of that too?

And I see you got an Early Reviewer's book - good for you! There aren't any for us this time but at least there was one - thanks to the nice author who is a member here too huh?

I hope this makes up for my lack of communication - I was feeling bad about not writing (I spend all my time trawling through book sites instead) and then your message popped up - which made me answer promptly. I have 4 of the Scotland Street books now and I am thankful the next one is not coming out until May next year - I just may have got all the ones I own and soon-to-get (that bit is the killer) read by then. I'll look out for your review.

Take care - and you are right: the Scotland St series seem to be more for winter (I am actually quite ignorant about them purposely) and Mma Ramotse lends herself to days in the sun. I read them during a holiday in late summer! Enjoy!

Very nice to hear from you,
Lyn
Yes, Wodehouse is a great way to balance out the Victorian novels. I liked the TV show with Hugh Laurie also.

I'm actually over halfway through The Warden. I'm getting used to his style of writing - thankfully it's not as long-winded as some of his contemporary writers, so I'm not overwhelmed at the beginning.

Take care,
Catherine
