Tietoja minustaA retired English teacher in a middle school setting. Spent way to much time on Library Thing, but love it.

Tietoja kirjastostaniHeavy on arty/picture books. My goal is to have a ten thousand volume library. To steal someone's quote, "To build a library is to build a life". So true.

We share many books in common and with your love of ceramics, you should consider going on the rendezvous with Los Amigos del Arte Popular, June 27-July 4. It is not too late. To see the details of the trip, go to www.ladap.org and choose Events then choose Our Next Rendezvous. Jorge Wilmot will present to our group and we will enjoy a private exhibition & sale for us by 20+ of the best ceramic artisans of Tonala. - Cathey Merrill

Thanks for the nice comment - and sorry for the tardy reply.

I thought I might be seen as short on the fiction side (I tend to read nonfiction almist exclusively), but perhaps, truth being stranger than fiction, it all balances out.
You too! I am coveting all the photography and folk art books.
davi,

Thank you for such nice comment!
Guess what, most books we share are "books on books"! :)
And I highly recommend "The House of Paper" by Carlos Maria Dominguez. It's a wonderful little book about books and readers, only 112 pages, isn't much longer than a Hallmark greeting card ( Kurt Vonnegut said these words for Voltaire's Candide, and I stole it :D ).
davi,
The picture is from the northern end of Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia.
Thanks for asking,

Shiloh
Those were the days, my friend! I remember in Mr. Thompson's 5th grade that we made a class order for Scholastic books. I was such a scaredy cat that I was afraid to raise my hand when he asked, "Who wants to read this one first?" To my horror, a book that I wanted to read -- about the underground railroad -- was ceremonially dumped in the trash can when no one raised their hand! Aack! Of course Mr. T. pulled it out and shelved it when no one was looking, but I can still feel the shock.
I just looked at your photography books and am very envious! I would love to see the August Sander! Now I'll have to see if it is available. . . June
I just got these in the last few months. David Stanton, an artist friend of mine recommended Basquiat to me in 1990. I had to get mine used (through Abebooks.com) since many of not most are out of print. Basquiat's is a very sad story. It seems that you cannot "make it" without a dealer, and yet they buy your work cheap and sell it dear. I haven't seen anything but reproductions; have you seen any of his work in exhibitions?
