Tietoja minusta I'm a busy mom, currently enjoying some time off work. I have two teenager daughters, one son, and 2 cats. I met my husband at Brigham Young University. We've been married for 17 years.

I learned to read when I was in a car accident as a 4 year old. I was stuck in a body cast with nothing to do. So I watched Sesame Street, and somehow, those letters all turned in to words. I've had a book on hand ever since. (usually more than one!)

Besides reading, I like to watch mysteries on TV, as well as cooking shows, Nature, and science shows. I also like to scrapbook when I have time and listen to music. I'm really interested in alternative health and my religious faith. But most of my time is spent keeping up with my busy kids, especially now that homework season has started up again.

So Hello already!

Yahoo! Avatars

For my challenge!

Tietoja kirjastostani I love mysteries! My favorites are cozies, Golden Age, and English police books. I love funny mysteries, but anything too cute or full of quirky characters turns me off.

I also enjoy non-fiction books, although I get most of these from the library. I like science, cookbooks, history, natural or alternative healing.

I'm a big Harry Potter fan, but I love lots of different fantasy books. I'm not as into science fiction, but have enjoyed a few titles here and there.

And I still read picture books!

Hope that tells you something about me. I'm a fast reader, but I love to reread my books. So I keep all my favorites. I'm also an avid BookCrosser (same name, cmbohn) and any books I have duplicates of or wasn't completely in love with will wind up being released. So my ratings are skewed, since I only keep the books I loved. You can also find me on Good Reads.

Carpe Demon -- no, I haven't. I will check it out, thanks for the tip!
Thanks for letting me know about the Per Petterson book, To Siberia, that was really kind of you. As it happens though, I just bought it and am reading it now. It's very good.

How have you been? And is that a new picture at the top of the page? I like your hat.
Not a dormouse, but a baby hamster!
thank you for the kind words, it really means a lot to me, and certainly inspires me to continue - in fact, I am heading out to take some more shots in about 1/2 an hours time :-)
Thanks so much for the hug! You're right -- I needed one! And it's funny, but stuff like that really does help. I heard from the newspaper columnist, and he is going to use my name and letter in his column. I'm fine with that -- because otherwise I wouldn't have written to him in the first place. I really feel strongly that this incredibly dishonest woman, who seems to have been living a double life for years, not ever be allowed onto my school's campus again. I certainly don't want her subbing in my classroom! Thanks again for the hug!
Hey! Noticed you've been on a cookbook spree. Have you checked out ISBN:1593373236? It's got GREAT reviews on Amazon. Have a great day!
BTW, I forgot to add that I grew up in WNY, the beginning place of the LDS. I have even been to the Hill Cumorah pageant a few times. I'll never be a Mormon, but the whole history and theology of the LDS fascinates me. I've done a great deal of reading on the subject, and one of my favorite authors, Orson Scott Card, is a LDS. I find that LDS beliefs permeate a great deal of his work. Did you ever see the PBS special on the Mormons? I'd love to know what you thought of it.
My kitty, Alex, sends his best regards to Spooky. Hope he's improving.
Thank you for dropping by :) It's still rather new, so it's always nice to get good feedback!
good for you, jumping into home schooling. let me know if you need any tips or recommendations. i love to talk "shop".
thanks for the comments, stop by any time... the photo is son #3, who cannot do anything but mug and goof in front of a camera...
Hi back! I'm loving reading everyone's blogs, they are all different but great. I'm getting so many ideas for new books to read that my TBR, which was already too long, is now much to long to manage!
its a great fantasy come true to be trapped on the beach with nothing more pressing to do then to read my books. I highly recommend it!
Thank you very much, that means a lot to me.

Now get your tags ;-)

Enjoy!

Hey - I'm a busy mom too although I've only got one child, not 3. But it IS homework season! Today is a Mythological Dictionary of at least 20 terms for 9th grade Honors English.

I like your idea of 1 audiobook per category - I may or may not use it, but that's the beauty of the 888. Personal choice.

What I really wanted to write to you about was that in looking at your profile I saw your reference to BookCrossing. I hadn't heard of it so checked it out and am very intrigued. There are 19 books in my town and several towns nearby are also listed. Thanks.
Good luck with the 888 challenge.
xoxo
I think that Jim Butcher's books are definately worth looking into. He has two different series. There is The Dresden Files which is an urban fantasy set in an alternate Chicago where magic exists and the main character is a wizard names Harry Dresden. The other is the series that's listed on my 888 Challenge page - The Codex Alera. That's a more traditional fantasy. Both are excellent, and yet very different from each other. Its refreshing to see an author be able to change his writing style so much between two different series.

If you like fantasy they are worth checking out.
I saw your question about the 888 tickers. I got mine at the Ticker Factory. Here is the construction page. Come back and post to let us know how you are progressing!
Hi, I'm happy to accept your invitation to be an LT friend! Still learning my way around but so far I like it a lot! Hope to chat with you soon!

Wow - someone else who read Richard Barth's Margaret Binton series!
Welcome to LT from a fellow BCer and Campion fan.
