Tietoja minusta I'm a thirty-something librarian in the Boston/Cambridge area. I read mostly literary fiction, graphic novels, manga and nonfiction history and memoirs. "Possession" is probably my all-time favorite novel. My favorite nonfiction book is "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson.
Right now I'm reading "The Demon from Dakar," "American Wife" and "The House on First Street" as well as several volumes of short stories and manga.
Over on my blog (www.bostonbibliophile.com) I host the weekly "Tuesday Thingers" meme, where I ask a question about participants' use of LibraryThing and we share links and visit each others' blogs. Come join every Tuesday!
Tietoja kirjastostani The books in my catalogue are books that I've read, books I'm reading now, books I want to read. Most of them are in my home at the moment. I weed the shelves and swap books often, so the collection is always changing.

I notice that you are just reading a Mary Doria Russell - I have just completed A Thread of Grace - five star excellence in my humble opinion.

Glad it arrived safely. Hope you like it better than I did; either way, it would be nice (though certainly nowhere required) if you'd give a brief review. Thanks for the offer but there's no need to send me anything. I'm so backlogged right now I wouldn't get to it for ages anyway.
Enjoy,
Dave

Those Who Trespass Against Us: One Woman's War Against the Nazis by Karolina Lanckoronska (ISBN 1844134172). http://www.librarything.com/work/930927
I found it incredible and was often wishing to record quotes. Please indulge me if I share a couple here;
Having just given a young consumptive soldier a drink the author Karolina Lanckoronska wrote
'For my part I reflected, for the thousandth time in my life, that to make education available to all who want it, without lowering standards, is one of humanity's highest ideals'.
The dying soldier had become more and more attached to Karolina who was working for the Polish Red Cross. He had shared details of his life from how he read all the books in his village library to domestic details about his Mother's cooking. As a countess she had had a privileged upbringing and was in fact a university lecturer. On hearing this the soldier was incredulous that she should be caring for him....
Thought of the day quote
'Over the next few days we removed everything of value from the flat and stored it for safe keeping with people we knew. That brought home to me how very uncomfortable it is to have possessions - though I was soon to learn that it's equally uncomfortable not to have any.'
How does this speak to me, my possessions and of materialism ......

I saw your comment about requesting some of the Gefen books. I have, too. If I get one that you don't, and you want it for your library, I can send it your way after I do my review.
How are you liking Gods Behaving Badly? I read it for the Amazon Vine program, and while I started out a bit dubious about the concept, I decided it was a hoot!
