Tietoja kirjastostanii am an english major turned librarian. i have to own all the books i read so i hardly ever borrow. I have read all the books listed under my "own" category. I love collecting books from library book sales and browsing the aisles of bargain books.

here is a little key to my ratings and i am a very tough critic:

five stars- soul-stirring, moving, perfect
four stars- excellent read, never lost interest
three stars- good book, worth reading
two stars- just okay
one star- sucked!

Thank you for adding me to your "Interesting Libraries." I am looking at the titles you have listed above, and furiously writing them down because they sound so interesting! Of course, I am familiar with Celia Rivenbark. When I lived in Wilmington NC, Celia wrote a column for the Wilmington Star News. As a result, heeding her advice, I do try to keep a frozen casserole for those emergency situations, e.g., a death in the neighborhood, etc. Tickled pink that she finally started writing books. She is a hoot!
My husband's cousin and her husband lived in Fayetteville, and we visited them quite a bit during our 16 years in Wilmington. Sure do miss Dolly.
Thank you for adding me to your interesting libraries list.
Hi
Sorry for the delay in replying but I have been on vacation. I did enjoy 'South of Broad', but agree that there were perhaps too many characters (especially characters I didn't really like...). However, I did like Conroy's style, and will be looking for other books he has written.
Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries list - I'm off now to browse your library!
Claire
Hi! I loved the book Olive Kitteridge but truly could not tolerate Olive as a person. I think Olive reminded me of a family member I actually have. LOL
Thanks for your recent comment. It does seem we have quite a few books in common. I'll have to check out your library and wish list some time!!!
Hi! Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries. I know that I've looked through yours before and seen some good books that I ended up getting. I'll keep on checking back for new ones you've added! Take care. Rachel
> "i just bought south of broad too and can't wait to read it!"
I've just finished part one. Excellent so far!!
Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries. I love this site....it becomes slightly addictive after a while! So many books...not enough time!

Take care and best wishes

Teresa
I love the titles of your new acquisitions. And I'm in trouble....I want to read them all.
Lorraine
I see you've read Atlas Shrugged. I've had it on my nightstand for months and pick it up, open to the first page, squint, and put it back. I want to read it but the length and the tiny print put me off. Worth the effort?
Thanks for your kind words. I've posted reviews of both A Mercy and The Jewel Trader of Pegu this week on my blog Fresh Ink Books if it interests you to read them. I don't give away many details of a story in my reviews as I like everything to surprise when I read a novel. And I have lots of good reading recommendations for literary fiction, that's what my blog is really for. I'd be honoured to have you stop by some time: http://freshinkbooks.blogspot.com/

Take care,

Sandra
Your library is inspiring and I enjoy your reviews. Thanks for keeping me updated!
Right backatcha babe and dog gone it!~! I was hoping it was you on your own private beach. But hey, a girl can dream. Right?
later dayz,

Hi Dawn
I'm stopping by to say that you consistently are the number 1 person who shares similar reading habits and books that are listed in my library.
I HAVE read everything Bill Bryson has written, I guess that makes me a huge fan! The only other travel writer I love as much and have laughed myself to tears reading is J. Maarten Troost, Sex Lives of the Cannibals, Getting Stoned with the Savages and Lost in Planet China. They are both cut from the same cloth!
I don't know what to do now that Olive Kitteridge has ended for me, I neeeeed more! I will have to appease myself with her other novels....
Hi, I just finished Olive Kitteridge and am a loss how to review it, as words fail. I loved it beyond my ability to explain just yet. I should just say ditto to your review! I wish there were more chapters though.
I see you just finished some Bill Bryson - I hope he made you laugh!
Mel
hi Dawn! Wow it is so cool how you have all those books! I remember when I still lived in Philippines I have a collection of books just like you; but when I moved here to America I had to give away my books that I've been collecting since I was like 7. Now I have a whole new collection and its growing. I love to go to Books-a-Million! That's where I get most of my books; but sometimes I get my books from book fairs that we have at school. well that's it for now.
Let me know how you like the Ballad of Frankie Silver. My mother grew up near where the story happened and it was a story used to scare the children with when she was a kid in the 20s and 30s.
I went to her website after the first book. She has left multiple openings for other books and she is young so there could be lots of others. Anne Rice waited a decade I think before she wrote her second Lestat book. Anyway we can but hope.
I spent the weekend doing nothing but reading the last three Twilight books. I hated for them to end. No I have to wait for the second film. I liked the film. I think it caught the flavor of the books. I will be looking into the other vampire books you mentioned but not immediately. Everything else has stagnated while I was off in vampireland.
Well I am halfway through Twilight and am looking for the rest of the books. One of the reasons I watch the film first nowadays (I waited until I could watch the first Harry Potter film before I began the books) is because film versions usually suck. That way I can see the film and not hate it. I am doing a post later today on Twilight on my blog www.candyschultz.blogspot.com.

Take care.
I saw the film last week and really liked it - did not expect to. I have watched it twice and now I must buy it so I stop renting it. So I thought I would give the books a try. I love vampires. I used to have my own real fangs years ago, made by my dentist. I kind of miss them but they eventually fell apart. I see you got the Flannery O'Connor bio. I just received mine today. She is near the top of my list of great writers and I can't wait to dig in. Take care.
Noticed you liked Trainspotting, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reading my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). Thought you might like my novel since it's also about a group of disturbed kids and a bit dark (like Trainspotting). I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

Chris
In my life I've met one person who worked at Shakespeare & Co. Have you met someone who worked there? Are there any LT members who have worked there, I wonder? Have you read Time Was Soft There yet? If so, how was it?
thanks for adding me. I'm new to this shared library stuff but will learn in time. I love that you showed what you are reading each month..very interesting. We share lots of my favorite authors and I will check more of your books in the future. I'm a retired travel agent and have already read 13 books in January. I'm always afraid I'll run out of titles to read....so far I'm OK. dj
Wow! We share a lot of books (many of which I haven't read yet :)
I like your rating breakdown, and the various quotes on the power of reading!
~Paulina
You're always tops on my list of member's with my books and I kept meaning to add yours as an interesting library. We share over 200 books which is a lot considering I only have 350 or so in my library! Here's hoping we find even more good books to share!
Hi, I loved Deafening. What did you think? Another book by a Canadian author that comes to mind is No Great Mischief by Alistair MacLeod; wonderful story Kathy
Hi, Im looking forward to communicating about books since we do share a very similiar taste. Thanks, Kathy
Will do!
Hi Dawn, Thanks for stopping by to check out my library. We sure do have a lot of books in common, don't we? You actually show up first in my list of "members with..." Happy reading! Bonnie
Hi-I recently finished The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb, and I loved it. I'm now re-reading one of my all-time favorites, A Prayer for Owen Meany, since I'm reviewing it for my book club. It is even better the second time. We were in Davidson, NC for Thanksgiving - perfect weather. My daughter and her husband bought a horse farm in Davidson, so we all enjoyed carriage rides and didn't even have to muck out their horses' stables. Take care, Pat
Hi - you're absolutely right: we do share an inordinate number of books. The last really interesting book I've read is Seven Types of Ambiguity by Elliot Perlman, and the one I cannot wait to start is Wally Lamb's new book. I love the way he writes. I have Lace Reader on deck and just finished Freeman Walker, an ER book. There's just never enough time, is there?
I just got the audio version of What is the What! Can't wait to start it. I have heard good things.

Sue
I just now noticed your comment from July. I spent the summer on my bicycle, but now I am back hitting the books. Your list is VERY impressive, and truth be told, I have glanced at it several times since I started my account. I still have a lot of work to do just to get all of mine tagged and added. Right now I am reading Outlander by Gil Adamson (not the Diane Gabaldon series). Very captivating! I think you might enjoy it.

Sue
Hi there,
thanks for adding me,
I look forward to having masses of fun rummaging in your library.
Have fun on LT!
Anna.
Yeaaa!! It works. Thanks so much for helping, I never would have figured that out...
Hi there! What did you think of the Danticat?
Hi-thanks for the recommendation, which I've added and look forward to reading. I have been not been reading anything noteworthy since A Good House by Burnard. Can't believe we now share over 1,000 books!
Pat
Hi, I've just joined LibraryThing this past week and am intrigued to find people with similar reading taste to my own. Some of what you say is my position exactly: I too look for deep meaningful books about life; I too go for award-winning books; I too like to own the books I read and if they're good I don't like to part with them afterwards. I wasn't planning to add books I've read but loathed to my library - they go to the charity shop. I like the quote about the reading list being a window to the soul.
I went through an Anita Brookner phase a year or two ago, and read Hotel du Lac (amongst others), which I loved. I've just read A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini - which made me wonder if he is a front for a woman writer. How could a man relate so intimately to a woman's world?
If you read Lionel Shriver read We Need To Talk About Kevin, and be warned, she's a tough cookie and ruthlessly intelligent, she'll take the wind from your sails.
I've bought Half of a Yellow Sun and it's waiting there for me to read next.
I've been disappointed with both Carol Shields and Jodi Picoult. The latter weaves a clever plot, but I found the rhythm of her book (can't remember which I read)repetitive: short sections always with a little swipe at the end, as if to impress, over and over again. Clever, but not subtle. That's what I thought anyway.
Hi-I just started The Condition by Jennifer Haigh, and it is excellent - as promised, I'm letting you know when I read something noteworthy. Take care, Pat
You're right - we both share uncommonly good taste in books. :) Do you mostly use one source for recommendations or many? I am going back to tag all of mine correctly, which is time consuming. I'm reading Master Bedroom by Tessa Hadley in between taggings. How about you? Anything good? Keep me posted. -Pat
I see you liked Septembers of Shiraz. You picked some great quotes for your review. I found the book filled with great lines like those. Its a treat to get to read writing like that.
Thanks for adding me to 'interesting libraries'. I love your photo, very eerie. Also interesting to note that while we share 426 books, we only share two favorite authors. That's an impressive number of reviews you have done, btw.
Gotcha on the lists! Yes, it can get to be very addictive. Like you, I enjoy the Orange Prize winners. One of my favorites is one of the first winners - Helen Dunmore's "Talking to the Dead." I read "Septembers..." earlier this summer and thought it was well-done for a debut. Let me know what you think of "Inheritance..." since it's on my list. Just finished "Books: A Memoir" by Larry McMurtry. A bit scattered in spots but for folks like us, how can you resist?!
Thank you for adding me to your "interesting libraries list. " I do enjoy the Library Thing website, but don't visit as often as I would like.
I love to read and write and have started a blog which I attempt to keep up to date. I enjoy reading almost anything that does not have a staple in the upper left hand corner. I hope that an upcoming vacation will allow me to get caught up on some of my books.
"There is no Frigate like a Book/ To take us Lands away." (Emily Dickinson)

Odd as in, it's entertaining, but it won't blow your mind. My TBR pile is pathetic. D:
Which one? The 100 Notable for 2007? I'm a total NYTBR junkie and look at their book page site every day on line. Have to say that I miss their old format, when they used to do what I thought was a more detailed analysis of the year's best books in all categories, including mystery. Per the 2007 Top 10 Best, I was amused by the inclusion of "Then They Came to the End." My husband loved it while I found it to be a bit too clever. Felt like the author was trying too hard.

Just picked up the new one by Larry McMurtry: "Books: A Memoir." If nothing else, I covet the cover! What are you reading these days? - Ellison
I see you just added The Russian Debutante's Handbook. Let me know what you think of it, it's a very odd little book.
Thanks for the add as well! I see that you are a former English major.... did you ever finish? Do you have a career in a field dealing with books? My reason for asking is I'm looking to go back to school. I have a degree in Intercultural Studies but I want to pursue a career in Literature. I will have to go back for a year or two to get an undergraduate degree in English since my current degree doesn't support going right into a M.A. program in English. But from there I'm somewhat clueless as to what path to take. Any suggestions?
Wow! 300+ shared books. You have some of my favorites too. I'm new to this site but am rapidly becoming hooked.
Thanks for making me an interesting library. Look forward to reading your Orange July comments.
We have impeccable shared literary taste. Good on us.

I'll write more later!
Just finished Septembers of Shiraz tonight. I really liked it. I did post a review, but I will say, it was beautifully written, and was a pretty quick read. I'm going to start History of Love tomorrow.
Ditto on [The Seige] one of my alltime favorite books. You might try [Hunger] by [[Elise Blackwell]] and [The Madonnas of Leningrad] by [[Debra Dean]] if you have not read them...also set in Russia during WWII. I also just read [Skeletons at the Feast] set in Germany during WWII and LOVED it.
I see you added 'The Siege' I think it is one of Dunmore's best, if not 'the' best!

Kind regards
Caroline
Hi, Thanks for adding me to you interesting libraries, I noticed we had quite a few common books. I still have a bunch of books to add to my library. It's really neat to see someone with the same taste in so many books.

I have History of Love to read after Septembers of Shiraz, part of my Orange July. I actually heard about it from a review in a magazine. I have book marked Book Club Girl, on your recommendation. You also just read Hotel du Lac, which I recently picked up due to the talk here on LT. Does it live up to the rave reviews? I just finished the Twilight series, and really liked it. Fun and easy.
Ooh, I want to read a lot of the books on your list! Specifically, A Thousand Splendid Suns, the Post-Birthday World, The Kindness of Strangers, and Out Stealing Horses!

Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries! I'll blog about these whenever I read them, http://skrishnasbooks.blogspot.com
Thanks for the suggestions about Jodi Picoult. My goal actually right now is to read all of her books. Im on my 3rd one now "Salem Falls." I do plan on reading "My Sisters Keeper" soon, I have seen things about a movie being made and out in 2009 so I want to make sure I read it first. I was disappointed though with Lifetimes version of the "Tenth Circle." Its was too far off from the book.
BTW, I see that The Secret History is on your "books I want to read list." I took a look at your reviews, seems as tho we share the same opinions on a good number of books. I HIGHLY recommend The Secret History. It is one of my favorite books! Hope you can get to it soon...I bet you'd like it.
Hi there. Thanks for adding me to you interesting library list. We seem to have quite a few book in common! However, your library is much more organized than mise. I still have a pile of books to scan it still! Maybe with time I can make my library as nice as yours! :)

Thanks again!! Talk to you later!
Bethann
It sure looks like we have a pretty similar taste in books. :)
for me, the secret is a good book because it was a source of inspiration and deep thinking - especially on a the very valid point that we tend to think about the things that we don't want, as oppose to those that we do. (did that make sense at all? lol)

HOWEVER, i would borrow it, if you can, because it's not that good of a book on which to spend your hard-earned money!

thanks for stopping by =)
Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries. So far my library is a mostly books I have read by year since I started keeping track in 1997. I tag books ‘read’ if I know I read something, but it was prior to 1997. I have also started to use it to keep a list of titles to get from the library. I have not yet tackled adding all of the books I own.

I haven’t really spent much time exploring the social aspects of LT, but now that I have started looking at some other libraries, I see that I could spend a lot of time exploring!

Bridget
Hello, and thank you for adding me to your interesting libraries list! I've just popped you in mine, and I love all your quotations and notes about books and reading, too.

Sue
It's cool that we have like 200 books in common. I noticed you are marking some of your books with the Book Lust tag. If you are interested, we have a group (http://www.librarything.com/groups/bookl...) of Book Lust fans and we are talking about developing a little book club for the group. Come join us if you are interested.
I really don't like sci-fi either and I loved the twilight series. I am a teen librarian and I am having an Eclipse PROM on August 1 to celebrate the release of the fourth book.
Thanks for including me! Isn't reading the best thing in the world? ;-) I, too, want to own all my books. Sadly, I need more space for my addiction - my poor bookshelves are stuffed full, and piles are accumulating everywhere. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. You can never have enough books. I used to feel guilty about my TBR stacks, but I recently read a quote - on LT, maybe? - that basically said to keep acquiring books meant you were curious, interested and alive, (or something to that effect) and I felt better about my ever-growing collection. Obviously I didn't write it - I'm not that eloquent with my prose! I'm taking a 2-week all-reading vacation at the end of the month, and I'm so excited! I've got my lawn chair ready, stocked up on my ice-tea fixins, my iPod is charged, and I have my TBR books ready to be pored over. Happiness! I hope your summer reading goes as well as mine is. ;-)
Just wanted to say thanks (quite late) for adding me to your interesting libraries list! I'm enjoying browsing your library and reading your reviews. It's nice to know another person out there who needs to own books -- it just makes me happy to look at them all.
Ooooh! I loved The History of Love (and The Thirteenth Tale, too). I though the characters in History were amazing - didn't want to leave them when the book ended! I've just finished The Law of Dreams, which was interesting, but not what I would call a plot-driven novel. Just picked up the Book Thief last night. Thought it was high time I read it.

See you around the site!

Susan
Thanks for adding me to your interesting library list. I have also had you on mine!

I see you have the new book by ELizabeth Strout, "Olive Kitteridge". I'd love to know what you think of it.
I'm in the middle of "I Shall Not Want" by Julia-Spencer Fleming; it does not disappoint. She's fast becoming one of my favorite mystery writers.
So many books, so little time...

I understand completely! I'm afflicted by the selfsame malady ")
Hi there! I actually don't like sci-fi or fantasy much either, but I absolutely love Stephenie Meyers' books. They aren't hardcore, overwhelming sci-fi and fantasy. There is so much more to the storyline that they are very enjoyable. I think you should give them a try... I hope you do and enjoy them!
Hi. I toured your library as well. I found many books to add to my to be read pile.
Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries...quite a compliment!
Hi Dawn,

Medicine for the soul... I agree! I love your picture.

Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries. I'm flattered and curious what caught your interest. I enjoyed looking at your library, especially the the books tagged "you must read this". If you look at my library, check out the Favorites tag.

Cheers,
d
Hi Dawn,

I just bought Alentejo Blue by Monica Ali and saw that you've also recently acquired it. I'm looking forward to reading it but have a few books going already! Have you read it yet?!
Hi Glad you enjoyed peeking in my library, I shall take a look at yours when I get time. Its so addictive this site. And so full of fellow book obsessives which is wonderful.
Kind regards
Caroline
Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries. I finished 'The Red Tent' last week and thought it was a fantastic read, one of my favourites so far this year.
Thank you for adding me to your interesting libraries. We have 343 books in common so far and I like that you tag award-winning books as I like to do this too.
Hi-I have wanted to read Elliot Perlman for a long time. He comes highly recommended, and I'm looking forward to his books. I am slowly adding books and authors from lists I've compiled over the years. You and I share so many books that we must have genres and authors in common. I have looked at my anti-recommendations to see what I am avoiding and it is mostly sci-fi and math-related books, so I guess they're on target since I dislike most of that category. What are your least favorite topics? Just wondering where you are - is Cumberland County in PA? I read an interesting quote this weekend: "Know the library of a person, and you know the person." Must appeal to English majors...
Take care,
Pat
Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries. =) I notice we share a ton of books. Hope you don't mind but I added you to my interesting libraries list.
Kathy
Hi-Thanks for your note. You share more of my books than anyone on this site, so I will scrutinize your library for more noteworthy books. Yes, I rated I Know This Much Is True with 5 stars - something I rarely do unless I am very touched in heart and mind. I love Wally Lamb - what a talent. I just finished Mudbound, which I liked very much and am now reading Bastard Out of Carolina, which isn't new, but came highly recommended. Please stay in touch.
Pat
Thanks for adding me to your interesting library list. I am going to add you to mine. I look forward to looking through your library!
Thanks for adding my library to your list of interesting ones. I'm adding yours to my list as well. We share a lot of books in common!

On the prize winners: I often find that I enjoy the nominees more than the winners. (Gilead, The Inheritance of Loss, and The Gathering weren't among my favorites, but many of the non-winners, like The Accidental, were.)
Hi Amanaceerdh! Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries - now it's reciprocal! I'm just loving the new LT home page - hope you are too.

I'm reading The Law of Dreams right now - so far, I love it. Two winners in a row, because "Behind the Scenes at the Museum" was fantastic too. What are you enjoying most on your currently reading list?
Hi Dawn,
I know what you mean about reading classics. I like reading them also. So my friend and I will try Scarlet Letter and let you know what we think. I see you're a cat lover also from one of your msgs. Great minds think alike! I just adore cats! We have two. Well, happy reading!

~~Robin
Hello. Thanks for adding me to interesting libraries. I wnet ahead and added you right back. I read both Hotel du Lac and Age of Innocence very recently and completely agree with your observation that Brookner is a modern version of Wharton. Great to have "met" you! -Nancy
I love Jodi Picoult, I have read every book that she has written. Another author that I am really enjoying is Elin Hilderbrand. Have you read the Twilight books by Stephenie Meyer?
Hello,
Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries, I'm having a browse through your library which may take a while! I see you have 'The Grass is Singing' on your to read list, this is an extraordinary book, a must read. Beware of 'The Comfort of Strangers' if you have a vivid imagination as it has a truly shocking ending! Also I really enjoyed 'After You'd Gone' for it's emotive power & 'From Caucasia with Love' brings alive the struggles of mixed race sisters growing up apart in the USA. I also enjoy following the Booker & Orange Prize winners & nominees, just finished 'The Road Home' by Rose Tremain & I have to say I did enjoy it though I am slightly surprised that it won, it's not as good as previous winners. I think I'd better check out the other books on the shortlist.
Regards,
antoinetta.
Hi - thanks for adding my library to your interesting libraries list. I have done the same with yours - you have some terrific books!
Hello Dawn,
Your library is one of my favorites on LT. You are a very prolific reader! Amazing for such a young person. At least I think you're young by your pic. It's very interesting how we generally rate our shared books very similarly since you seem much younger than I am...I am in my early 50's, married, and have a 20 year-old daughter.
We rarely seem to disagree in a big way on our ratings so your library will give me some great ideas on what to read! If you don't mind, could you tell me what you thought of The Scarlet Letter? I see it in your library as something you've read but it's not rated. I tried reading it about 10 years ago and I just couldn't get into it. I'm usually compulsive enough to finish every book I start but once in a while, I just shelve it. A friend of mine and I have our own little two-person book club going on LT and we were thinking of trying Scarlet Letter again. I'd be interested in how you rate it. Thanks!!

~~Robin
I'm enjoying browsing through your selection of books, and what a fantastic selection of books you have too! Like you, I have this impulse to own all of the books that I ever read. Anyway, happy reading!
I must say you have excellent taste in books!
:-))
Thanks for the friend invite! The cat is Cuppy (real name Cupcake) who is the funniest cat I've ever been owned by. She is my constant companion except when there are strangers around--strangers are anybody other than me and my husband. Right now we have company in the house so she is hiding out in the closet and I won't see her until bedtime when she'll sleep on half my pillow.
Hello and thank you for adding my library to the list of those you find interesting.
It will be my pleasure to browse through yours.
Happy reading!

Paola :-))
Thanks for including me on your list of interesting libraries. I like to read all sorts of books. I am a teen librarian and read a fair amount of YA Lit.
Thank you for including my library in your interesing librairies list.
Cyrel
Also, I literally just finished The Double Bind and it was fantastic! I saw it in your library as want to read. I don't want to give anything away so I won't say anything more just read it.............
I see you are currently reading Harvesting a Heart by Jodi Picoult. You will have to let me know what you think. I just finished it about a month ago.
Thank you for popping by my library, hope you enjoyed your browse and maybe came away with an idea or two. I now absolutely have to have a look through yours as well. Sam :)
THANKS! :>
Yes, "History of Love" is on my Big Pile, so let me know what you think at the end. And next read either "Edgar S." or "What Was Lost." But only if you have gobs of time to read because both will suck you in.
Hi amanaceerdh--thanks for adding me to your "interesting libraries" list. :-)
You asked me to recommend if I ran into some "good 'uns." And I see that you've put "What Was Lost" on your want-to-read list. Stop whatever you're doing and run out to grab a copy. It's amazing. I also loved "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" by David Wrobelewski (sp?) and "Consequences" by Penelope Lively.

Unlike your last friend I wasn't as keen on Greer's "Story of a Marriage." I thought it paled next to his last book, "The Confessions of Max Tivoli."

Have you read either of George Hagen's books? "The Laments" and "Tom Bedlam." Kudos to both of them.

Enjoy!
You have just added three of my favorites:
The World to Come
The Story of Forgetting
The Story of a Marriage

Have you read any of them? WOW - you are in for some gems.

I a wee bit jealous.

Nancy
Hi

Thanks for your comment. I just finished Kate Vaiden by Reynolds Price. Grabbed it at the last minute as I was going on vacation. I had read Roxanna Slade by the same author several years ago. I like Kate Vaiden and would like to read more by Reynolds Price.

Have you read anything by him?
You have a great library!
Hi there,
Yes, I have read The Last Chinese Chef, and I thought it was a great read. I read it a few weeks after returning from a trip to China, so I was especially interested in the descriptions of Chinese cuisine and culture.
Happy reading,
Laura
Hi

Well, thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries. You’ve been on my list pretty much since I discovered LT!
Thanks for your comments. Over half my books are also on your library shelf, so your name keeps popping up and I decided to add you to my "interesting libraries" list. Do you own all the books you've listed? I'm listing only books that I have read. I'm trying to go back over the years and remember what I've read and write a brief synopsis of each.

I like your rating system - - brief, to the point, and similar to mine. And I noticed, with a few exceptions, that we rate books similarly.

I noticed one of the books you haven't read yet is Lucy Grealy's Autobiography of a Face. I highly recommend this book, and then read Ann Patchett's Truth & Beauty. It gives you two interesting perspectives of the same person.
I just read The Black Tower which will be published in August. I got it from the Early Reviewers on here. I have read one other book by the author, Mr. Timothy. Both are reviewed on my blog as well as here. I read The Golden Child by Penelope Fitzgerald last week and it was hilarious. I review almost everything I read on my blog and then cut and paste them to here.

My library is all over the house which is not the way I want it. I would love to have one room with all the books in it. It would have to be a pretty big room.
Thanks for adding me to your favorites. Please tell me that is not your library in the picture. I would be so jealous.
Thanks for adding me to your list! I adore your libary photo - speaks volumes to our mutual "illness."

I'm in the process of finishing "The House on Fortune Street" by Margot Livesey. Don't know if you enjoy her books, but I thought this one was excellent. Not sure what I'll start next but I'm leaning towards "The Boat" by Nam Le...Best, Ellison
Yes, you are on my interesting libraries list. You have quite a collection and I love the picture on your profile. I am not reading anything that would change your life right now, but if I hit upon something great, I'll let you know. -- Would love to know if you have any great recommendations as well. Have a great summer!
hello!!!
what book are you reading right now? i ask because i think you have read or own every book in my library!!! hahaha
do you think i should i put all my books on library thing? even the ones i havent read yet?
hope to hear from ya soon!!!
sherry
Hi, We seem to have alot of books in common and I love your quotes particularly by Erasmus and Tabor. I'm reading Middlemarch, The River KIng, The Translator, and Tumbling After, which is a memoir right now, and I work at home with my husbnad in our cxonstruction company office. Hope to cxome back to your site and catch up with some of the conversations on here about some of the books we all share in common. Have a great day, and stop by my site if you have a minute, Mary Beth
Hello...I was wondering how you are faring with A New Earth and Oprah and Eckhart's online class. I find it very slow, but am sticking with it. Btw, you are No. 1 on my "Books shared" list. I have a long way to go before I can even come close to the size of your library. I'd better get reading! ~Donna~
I love Always Running, it's a great book. And the author Luis J. Rodriguez is a great guy. -- Jeff Rivera (Author of FOREVER MY LADY) http://www.JeffRivera.com
I have enjoyed looking at your library too. I recently read Water for Elephants and LOVED it! I do not actually own all these books--many I borrowed from friends of libraries. Also, I like to pass books along to others... My husband and I do own many books, and we are running out of room... Happy reading!
Oh - looks like you're already in my "interesting libraries" !!!
Hi - don't know if i've "commented" before! i'm adding you to my library if I already haven't....Summer
Hi! Carol Shields is such a great writer -- that is very cool you got to meet her :) Yes, you do have an interesting library -- thats what makes LibraryThing so neat; meeting people from all over the country who have the same books or very eclectic collections. Hope to talk more soon!

Cheers,
Kate
Great collection! We have over 100 books in common.
Hi amanaceerdh,

We do have a lot of books in common. I will have to spend some time checking out your library. =) I recommend both books. They both made my list of favorites for 2007.
The books we share are some of my favorites! My husband thinks I'm funny that I find this fascinating... I'm sure you understand! Happy Reading,
Gwen
Hi there! I added you to my "Interesting Library" list awhile back, since you're always coming up high on my similar library list. I finally got around to looking through your list, and our tastes are so similar! If you come across anything fantastic, let me know, and I'll be sure to check it out. ;)
I'll add it to my want to read list. Thanks for the encouragement!

S.
Thanks for your friendship! I look forward to checking out your books and hope you enjoy mine.
Just finishing up Water for Elephants, which I see you enjoyed. I'm also reading A Complicated Kindness. So far I quite like it. Not sure where I'll go next - there are so many things on my TBR list I don't know where to start.

What did you think of Eat, Pray, Love? I hear about it at every turn, but remain skeptical - not sure why.

S.
Hi amanaceerdh,

We're at 219 books and counting. Thought I'd drop in to ask what you've been reading!

starfishian
Hi -

You pop up on my profile as highest matched library, so I began paging through our same 221 books. I saw a lot on your "own but haven't read yet". There are many that I would encourage you to move up your pile. One I have really fond memories of reading is A Short History of a Prince by Jane Hamilton.

Jane is a local author here and I have had the opportunity to get to know here. She is terrific and has written a lot of great books. I think this one is my favorite of hers. Pick it up and let me know what you think!

All best,
alphaorder
thanks for responding.
"Happy reading" to you as well.
Hope you won't mind me adding your list to my private "ones to watch"
All the best
R.
Sorry you didn't like Amy Bloom's "Love Invents Us" which struck me as a neat title for a profound phenomenon, worthy of Augustine or Arendt (who provides the book's epigraph).
Notice you didn't rate Joan Didion's "Year of Magical Thinking" too highly either (another recent favourite of mine).
Guess it just shows how different we all are on LT (and elsewhere)

I did like the quote from Jessamyn West, however, and thank you for that.
You have an impressive collection.
Mazel tov

Thanks for having such an interesting library! You've also inspired me to add books I want to read so I'll stop forgetting what to look for when I hit the bookstores in my neighbourhood.

LibraryThing is becoming a bit of an addiction, I have to confess.
Hey amanaceerdh,

Thanks for the brief holla-at-your-boy/shoutout on my ever-popular quotes page and profile. Whereabouts did you get your english degree? Are you in the south? I think the writer who expresses some amazing lines each time I read them are the following: Mark Twain, Flannery O'Connor (!), and Lorrie Moore. Good god, what a talented bunch.
Have you read Marisha Pessl's Special Topics in Calamity Physics? It's her first novel and it is so interesting...different than anything you've read before...I promise. Part murder mystery, part comin-of-age...just good stuff! Reviews are mixed, but it did make the NYT Best Books of 2006 list. It made my Best of 2006 list, too!
Hi Amanaceerdh! Thanks for dropping by. I like the friendly snake reading books :)

Bearette
Hi, my name is Michael, I live in Portland, Oregon. I see that we share a number of the same books, but since everyone on this web site loves to read and own books I guess that not unusual. I love the picture on your profile page. I too get into reading ruts, nothing jumps out and says read me. I notice the reading rut often happens after I read something very powerful. It like I need time to let that book still be with me. One book, this just came to me, was A Lesson Before Dying. It was so powerful and moving I couldn't read for sometime afterwards. Currenly one of the books I am reading is Life and Fate by Vasily Grossman. I highly recommend this novel. Best wished
Michael
I'm so glad you loved Water For Elephants!!! I'm very jealous of my friends that still have to read it... I wish I still had it to look forward to... One friend of mine is listening to it on tape (I can't do that -- I have to read a real book) and says it's amazing because there are two different voices -- an older and a younger Jacob.

What are you reading next? I've been in such a rut... I can't find anything that is drawing me in.... getting very frustrated. I think Water For Elephants raised the bar too high :-)
I have read one of Elizabeth Berg's books. I might have to give her another try. Tnanks for the tip.
Based on the books we share, The Weight of Water by Anita Shreve might be just the ticket for you. It's a great read and I could not put it down.
Hey if you're still in a reading rut - read "When Neitzsche Wept" - it's deep, funny, intense, unique - a fictional relationship between Freud, Neitzsche and Bruer - very intellectually stimulating as well as "soul-touching"!! Very well written!

Yes - I do love to write but working full-time cuts a good chunk right now out of any real writing time! (and now that i've found this site, am obsessed with this site and getting books catalogued - i'm not even getting dinner cooked!!!

Ok! I'll have to check out your library! I've forgotten so many books i've read that maybe seeing other libraries will jog my memory!

Summer
Hey - I had to contact you! You've got 72 of my books! (or i've got 72 or YOUR books!)

I just joined a couple days ago! This is great!

Summer
Oooh, try Water for Elephants, everyone I know who's read it inhaled it and loved it!
I see you have read and like some Jodi Picoult. I would recommend Nineteen Minutes. As always, a twist at the end.
we have many books in common. ....have you tried [Year of Wonder] by [[Geraldine Brooks]], [Baker Towers] by [[Jennifer Haugh]], [Caspian Rain]or [Blood of Flowers]? They could fit for you.
Your list is quite impressive! I looked through it to remind myself of some books that I read years ago. We do have quite a few books in common.
Heighdy,

Saw you'd recently added "The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio: How My Mother Raised 10 Kids on 25 Words or Less". Haven't read it yet myself, but thought you might like to know it's also a pretty good movie with Julianne Moore; my wife and I rented it a couple of months ago. Hope you like the book!
Hey there... I definitely recommend taking Water for Elephants on vacation... also Marian Keyes' books are perfect for relaxing (Anybody Out There?, her latest one is excellent) and also Elinor Lipman's latest one is my favorite (My Latest Grievance). Enjoy -- and have a great vacation!
I definitely think you will like Burning the Sea... I also just finished Water For Elephants last week and absolutely loved it -- best book I've read all year (maybe longer!) I think I also saw that you had some Jodi Picoult books on your list... I loved My Sisters Keeper and Plain Truth the most, though I haven't gotten through all of hers, yet... I find I either really really like or really really DON'T like hers... not a lot of in between! I also can recommend anything by Marian Keyes or Elinor Lipman for light, fun reading, and Elizabeth Berg and Kaye Gibbons are always excellent choices... hope you find something you love soon! I know how it feels to be in a "drought!"
Thanks for accepting my invitation. I see you are from Fayetteville. I grew up near there, in Jacksonville. I live in Ohio now.
I'm just getting my library up but we have 139 in common so far! I will eventually read your whole list.
I love your quote and plan to use it in my American Lit class this semester. I have not been on LibraryThing since last summer. I was busy teaching, planning our daughter's wedding, and finally, reading! I am in the process of updating my reading list. Happy Reading!
Oh wait... it looks like you already have Burning the Sea...? Or want to read it... I spoke too soon!
Hey there... I just came back to LibraryThing after not paying much attention the last few months... I see that you share many books from my list... but more than that, I love that you also can't borrow books -- I, too, have to own all of mine! It gets expensive, but I'd rather have books than food or clothing, really.

I'm at work now, but when I have time, I plan to peruse your library to get some ideas... we seem to have similar taste. In the meantime, I'd love to recommend a book to you called "Burning the Sea" by Sara Pemberton Strong... it's only available used on Amazon, but it only costs a few cents (such a shame -- it's worth so much more!!) -- it's an incredible story and beautifully written.
Thanks for your suggestions. I'm very much enjoying perusing your library. Sooo many good books to think about! Mother/daughter relationships are of special interest to me. My daughter has been trying to get me to read White Oleander for years, but I keep wimping out... maybe this year... Thanks again for inspiring a new user!
Hey there--I noticed we seem to be heavy on some of the same authors, and also that you've got Ron Rash's World Made Straight on a soon to be read list---I just thought I'd throw out there, after you finish it, check out his earlier novels. I'd read this one first (because the others I'm pretty sure you'll be more impressed by), but if you like Murakami and some of those other works I noticed you had serious stars by, I think you'll like Rash's earlier works too. His poetry is a little bit like Raymond Carver's, and not as much up my alley as his prose, but it's worthwhile too. Hope your world's going well.
Hi...we share 50 books, and have a similar taste in books. I love Ballentine books, and Oprah. I'm not finished perusing your library, but wanted to say hi.
Sorry - did not see your comment till now - not been on-line due to computer problems. Been looking through your catalog - wow I might have to add some to my have-to-read list which is already more than 500 big. We do seem to like the same books. I must work on updating my catalog. One of my all time favorites is still The Poisonwood Bible. At the moment I am reading the No 1 ladies detective agency - on the fourth book - really enjoying it - takes me back to Africa.
Just wanted to say hello...we share a good many books and I've been perusing your list for suggestions. I borrowed your "you must read this" tag...hope you don't mind. And we are fellow UNCW-ers. :)
Glad to see someone enjoy both chick-lit books AND Austen/Kingsolver/Morisson. If you need any tips on French books, let me know.
Thanks for your response: I like all those authors, as well. I hated Willa Cather the first time, but the second time through (when I was forced to teach My Antonia), I loved her. My favorite all-time book is Beloved by Toni Morrison, but most folks prefer The Bluest Eye or one of the others she wrote pre-Beloved. Nothing after that seems to catch folks' fancy. I wonder how many of your books you have not read yet -- percentage?
I am new to LibraryThing, but your collection shares the largest number of matches with mine: 59, about a third of the books I have entered. It seems we match on a lot of our interests: Anne Tyler, Barbara Kingsolver, Oprah books, Annie Proulx, and also others I see less often on other lists (Anil's Ghost, Antelope Wife -- I love Erdrich). Many in your collection are ones I have read/owned but have lent (and lost) or simply had to leave behind due to a nomadic lifestyle; I think it is a great idea to record books you have read, as well as own. I doubt I will get time to do that, but one can hope. How did you like A Prayer for Owen Meany (a favorite of mine)? What is your interest in African American Literature? I taught a course in that once ...
Hi. I was just library-surfing, and saw in your profile that you plan to catch up on some Anne Tyler. I'm a fellow fan of hers, and it might be interesting to you to have a look at my reviews of her books. As far as I know, I've read them all, including her children's book. She's great, isn't she? I enjoyed looking through your library; you've got quite a few of my own favorites.
Thanks for you kind note. You have to consider that I have been collecting for about 45 years. In Los Angeles, you can from time to time, still find signed copies at yard sales.

Art
Yes, I did get the Life of Pi Quotes. You just sent one, right? I did reply to your email thanking you, I guess you didn't get that? Thanks so much!
I am brand new on the site and still in the process of cataloging my collection. What a wonderful profile!!!
So ... how's The Ha-Ha coming along? I listened to it on audio - fascinating hearing Howard's inner voice; the reader did a great job with Laurel's Texas accent as well. The kid I coulda done without, but he is key to the plot.
Thanks for the recommendation (Midwives and Poinsonwood Bible). I will definitely tackle them next!
Lisa
Hey,

I am new to the site and just started entering my books. But, we right now we share 108 of the same titles (and I only have 248 in my library right now). I will definitely add you to my watch list for future reading suggestions.

Lisa
Hello again, we share 123 books now, although your library is twice mine. I hope you're reading more pages than I am managing, thanks to all this library surfing. I was perusing your Books I Want To Read List (again!), and felt I had to plug 84 Charring Cross Road. It is by far the most satisfying and shortest book I have ever read. I bought it used for a pittance, have loaned it repeatedly, and if it doesn't come home soon, I will buy it again because I miss it. I am trying not to stress over my nearly 100 unread books on the shelves, and looking forward to March's book club read, the Red Tent, which you have listed as you must read this. I'll get right to it!
Hi,

I just thought I'd drop you a line, seeing as we share 61 books, and I haven't even finished listing mine yet. :)
Thanks for your note! I know we have so many books in common. It's wonderful to know that there are literary "kindred spirits" out there, even if we don't really know each other!

Enjoy your reading!

By the way, have you ever checked out Bookins.com? It's a great place to get used books for only the price of shipping (if you are willing to trade your own). I am following up on my LibraryThing recommendations by ordering them on Bookins. Lots of fun....

Take care,
Laura
I really, really loved "The Ladies Auxiliary" and urge you to move it to the top of your "Books I Want to Read" list! I like that we share so many books in common (almost 1/4 of my books!).
I'm slowly adding to my catalog. We now have about 26 books in common (not as many as some other people, I see!). Thanks for stopping by and saying hello.
So we share about 60 books, not as much as some people share with you, but I still wanted to say hello. Also, I love your idea of tagging prize winners, so I think I may go through my library and do that!
Thanks for the warm welcome, I too am adding to my tbr list and catalog almost daily, this is addicting, but so much fun, expecially for slightly ADD/OCD crazy moms like me! Cheap therapy and entertainment. Hope my family can spare me !
Seriously, a lot of the people you share books with are Brenda's? How funny. I wonder if there's something about the name...?

Lol, yes I'm also a Dave Matthews Fan :-) It's nice to meet someone with both those interests in common :-)

Stop by and say hey sometime! Have a good one!
Hello! I really like your profile, and your tags, oh and your groups, so I'm adding your library to my watchlist. And is that a nice picture or what?
I'm fairly new to this site...you and I have quite a few books in common...but, also I looked at your author cloud and we definitely like the same authors! So, I've added you to my watch list.
Hello again from Saint John....you will have to let me know how you enjoy Fugitive Pieces...it's not an easy read but there are passages that I reread; certainly a beautifully written book but NOT a light read. I am presently reading Helen Keller's book on spirituality. I'm not really into biography but a friend told me that they were really inspired by her book so.....Also received an eclectic group of books for Christmas... Jimmy Carter's book on Palestine, Stephen King's Cell and another one called Little Children which I believe was made into a film. I found a copy of A Complicated Kindness for $1.49 in a second hand store today so picked it up....I already own it but can't resist a good book at that price.....I will find someone to give it to!!!! Happy reading!
Love you lists, we share many of the same books. I perused your books to read list to help prioritize mine; the 2 irvings are on my top ten favorites list: Ruth in Widow for One Year is my favorite character ever! Happy reading...So many books, so little time.
Just thought I'd say hi because we have a few books in common, and in looking at your myspace page we have a few other things in common too :-) Hello!
Hello again....thanks for dropping by. The news about the ATonement movie is wonderful....I wonder who will be Cecilia and Robbie. I read in the paper today that Fugitive Pieces (wonderful Canadian novel) is also to be made into a film. It's a very moving book about a young Jewish boy who escapes from Poland and makes his way to Toronto----beautifully written. Also, if you liked Mistry....read Such a Long Journey. It isn't as sad as A Fine Balance (which I found really heartbreaking) and it's one of my favorite books. Anyway....I've had little time to read with Christmas but as a teacher, I have another week off so will relax and enjoy something good. I bought a short novel called Kitchen at a second hand bookstore that looked interesting. If you have any suggestions though, I would appreciate them! Happy reading!
hi...am new to Librarything and noticed your name because we share so many books in common 252!!!!) I am still just "getting my feet wet" but wanted to tell you what a great collection you have....my favorite that we "share" is Atonement. Did you enjoy it....I found it heartbreaking but so moving. I also noticed you have some Mistry books...isn't he a wonderful writer...well, back to my first adventures with the librarything....I think it is going to be fun and interesting!
You have a fabulous library! We share quite a few books, and I will be checking your "Must Reads" often for suggestions!
Hi! Thanks for joining Used Books.
it's so easy to be consumed by books. i, in particular, love lists of books. this place is just wonderful. glad you added some to your to read list. have any suggestions?
Sorry it took me so long to reply.. I hope you did go back and get the copy of Blessed are the Cheesemakers, it's a wonderful story.
I see your reading Clan of the Cave Bear, Is this your first time reading it? I loved that series, so much.. I just devoured it.. then waited so long for the last book to come out and when I got it, I couldn't read it because I felt I needed to re-read the older books, which I plan to do "someday" but with so many books yet to be read, it might be a long time..
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Lisa
You do have a great library. Of your "books I want to read" I recommend highly Accordian Crimes. I had forgotten that Annie Proulx had written that. Animal Dreams and All Over Creation are also excellent. Now I'm going to go check out Saucie's titles because Louise Erdrich is one of my all time favorites.
You have a great library. It's so nice to find someone with similar reading interests! I'll definitely stop by to get inspiration for my future selections!
Just another book lover dropping in to say hello, as you're near the top of my list in shared books. Enjoyed browsing your shelf! :')
We do have quite a few books in common and it's nice to know another Berg fan. I really love her books.
We do have a lot of books in common! hobbies as well. I've been doing alot of fall foliage photography in the last couple of days, this is the best time of year to take pictures in the country. I have to own all my books too, so theres another thing we have in common. I do pass them on in one way or another when I finish them though. I don't do well with borrowing, I am a mood reader, I can't just decide I am going to read this book now, my mood picks my book.
I see your planning on reading Holman's The Mammoth Cheese soon.. Thats a great book. It sort of reminded me of Blessed are the Cheesemakers by Sarah-Kate Lynch, probably because of the cheese but I think they have a similar tone as well. I liked Blessed best, it's one of my all time favorites.
Happy Reading,
Lisa
I see we share my two favorite John Irving reads: A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY & WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP. Both wonderful books. I was thinking just yesterday that I need to revisit Prayer. I think it's a disservice that Irving isn't taught more often in college. Perhaps I'll teach PRAYER next semester.
Hi,

I've only just begun cataloging and have only listed much of my last two years of reading. It seems we share a far number of fine pieces of fiction. I noted on your profile that you sometimes read off the awards' lists...are you aware of the Orange Prize in the UK. Each year's list is a fabulous place to find thoughtful, original and quality fiction written by women. Their website is also a great resource for book-shoppers!

Perhaps, someday I'll log in the thousands of books in the house but....I'd rather be reading!

Lois
Just read your review of Middlemarch....I have also not managed to finish the book. I am in a book club and only one out of the seven members finished it. I have left in on a shelf next to my favourite chair in the living room so that it sits there haunting me as the one I couldn't finish. I keep going back to it and reading a bit more...maybe one day I'll get through it! Just too much Victorian social politics for me...it frightens me that people might think that English ladies are still like the ones in these types of books!
Thanks for letting me know that it's not just me who didn't get The Body Artist! Some lovely writing, but it's all faded into a formless memory now.
Thanks for visiting my library! We do share a lot of books. I am a compulsive book-buyer, and the past few weeks have been hitting thrift stores in search of deals (and finding success too!) I love your quotes about books - the Erasmus one is an old fave of mine. Another great one is by Elizabeth Barret Browning: "No man can be called friendless when he has God and the companionship of good books."

I am currently reading "To the Lighthouse" by Virginia Woolf, and will also read Tracy Kidder's "Mountains Beyond Mountains". A few others on my shelves are being eye-balled right now, but I'm enough overwhelmed by the choices that I'm waiting until a particular book starts REALLY calling my name (it may, in fact, be Mary Doria Russell's "The Sparrow".

I just finished reading the Narnia Chronicles recently. They were fabulous; life-changing. Now I'm on a C. S. Lewis kick. I'm glad I waited until adulthood to give them a shot.

Happy reading!
I wrote a review of Mark Haddon's [Spot of Bother] that you can read on the book information page (http://www.librarything.com/work/1040974...)
Thank you! She's not that little anymore, or even that cute... but we still love her. What did you think of The Curious Incident? I was a bit disappointed in it. Yes, it was very clever idea, but it seemed to be missing a payoff, or something. I agree about Ahab's Wife because I keep picking up other books. I usually have a few going at once, but I keep moving that one to the side.
Thank you for your comment! It's good to know I'm not alone in this.
Well I must admit that everything I logged includes every book in my house (I did get a little obsessive about this.) That includes my 2-year-old's board books and Dr. Seuss, etc., and my husband's vast collection of martial arts and comedy books. The books you and I share I'd be willing to bet are mine though - and of course we have the good taste :)
Thanks for the note!
thanks for the note. I'd already combed through your 5 star / must read list to add to my unread list. we do have similar tastes!

I hope you like "curious incident", it was fabulous. I recommend it to everyone. it's one of my daughter's favorites (14yo). I'm searching for more books to give her to read, she's in a funk right now because she's spoiled by books like that.

Our book club is reading the charles baxter, I haven't picked it up yet.

I love Louise Erdrich (noting an earlier comment), but I read her 20 years ago, so I don't know if that lasts. Love Medicine is the one I recall as best. Her husband's Yellow Raft in Blue water (Michael Dorris) is awsome!

I'm currently recommending (in addition to the pulitzer;s) Sweetness in the Belly and A Small Island. (sorry I am terrible with authors generally). These are two canadian authors that show a perspective on Muslim and Black issues that is different from what you would get in the states. The books are definitely stories about people and characters first though.
We do have quite a few in common! 193 is not bad at all :)

You might be interested in BookCrossing.com since I see there are alot of books you want to read. People are friendly there and will definately help add to your wishlist :) Now, if only I could find the time to tag all of my books! LOL
Thanks for stopping over. When you read Sontag be sure to let me know your thoughts. If I get to any of her work soon I'll do the same. Isn't LT a great thing?? I love the quote you have by Mary B.W. Tabor. LT is like a window into a lot of souls.

Hey there.... yes, we do have a lot in common -- I love Augusten Burroughs and can't wait for his movie to come out!! I was recently at a book fair in Chicago where I had the pleasure of meeting both he and Elizabeth Berg... they were so great in person. I've actually seen Augusten a few times in person; I live in NYC and he often does book signings here, but it was the first time I'd seen Elizabeth Berg, and I was SO impressed with her.

Thanks for leaving me a comment - sorry it took so long to get back to you --I haven't checked in here in a little while!
Hi there. I see we share quite a few titles. I noticed Susan Sontag listed in your random titles and realized that I've never read any of her stuff. I need to do that! Thanks for the nudge.

-Rus
Hi... yes we do seem to like the same books. I'll be watching what you read !!! :-). I adore Louise Erdrich and can reccomend any of her books, but start with the first book she wrote if you can... sorry it's late and off the top of my head I can't remember which one it is. You just can't go wrong with her. Please let me know how you like it. ;-)
I love your literary quotations! Huzzah for English majors. We rock. Screw practicality and gainful employment! I like your intuitive "you must read this" tag. It's rather helpful!
