Tietoja minusta*Looks around* Is this supposed to be like one of those centerfold inserts? My likes and turn-ons? Okay, well, I like books obviously, since the only books listed on here are the ones I've collected in the last couple of years, the main body of my library still being in storage in California and not listed yet. Yes, I'm a hoarder, what's your point? Now, lessee, I'm a hopeless dork who loves coffee, road trips, bad weather, animated movies, pinyon incense and loud music. I don't like people that can't accept apologies, hummers (the car, people, the car), slime eels, book snobs or liver.

Books. As my Facebook flair says, Harry Potter is not just some books about a wizard so don't make me come over there and give you mom face. The majority of what I read is actually nonfiction, usually science, nature or adventure oriented, although I do love hard SF. Well, until the physics gets hopelessly beyond me (I hope Greg Bear is paying attention, I STILL can't figure out the layout in "Eon"). I like fiction but only in small doses . I have no interest in, and subsequently no knowledge of, the romance, mystery, or self-help genres so I wont be reviewing or recommending any. Well, that's not entirely true, I do have 2 or 3 mystery books I guess.

I am married. We have kids. We have cats. We sold the video games and have a lock on our T.V. set. We are leaning towards cutting meat out of our diet but haven't told the kids. Why ruin a good time? I work. I go to school. Still. I own the same tennis shoes in various colors. I consider the good ones to be formal wear.

If you are at all interested in what I'm currently reading, and I cannot imagine why you would be, BUT... check my library under the tag "currently reading".

I can't think of anything else at the moment but you are welcome to email and ask if you have any burning questions.

Her name is Mika. She's about three times as big as my profile-pic, now. lol Growing fast!
*raises eyebrows* I'm a "kiddo" now? :P
It's 110 degrees over here, I'm melting! Other then that, life is... life. I miss the BM forums. Can't even get on them anymore. I hope the new ones get done soon! I miss the weird/awesome convos.
Anyways. I have a poodle puppy now! She's a handful. But so adorable.

Hi, SpongeBobFishPants. Aglaia brought to my attention that you may know ASL very well. I took two years of it in school when I was younger. Do you know if there are audio videos of books with someone signing the words? It would be a fun way to put a love for books with reintroducing myself to some signs I've forgotten these last few years.

I see you've also read The Strain! Did you get it from Early Reviewers? I received a copy of it from them. What an interesting book! It wasn't quite like much of anything I've read. Very good, though! I can't wait for the later books in the series.

I hope you're summer is off to a good start or that it will be soon. :)
This --- We watch "House" as a family because all of us in this family are snarky and have minimal social skills, so House feels familiar to us, like macaroni and cheese or warm socks. --- was awesome.

Hope you're well :)
Hey there - I have not heard anything about "Lawrence and Aaronsohn: T. E. Lawrence, Aaron Aaronsohn, and the Seeds of the Arab-Israeli Conflict". I looked up Aaron Aaronsohn and he was apparently a geographer who helped map the middle east. I would assume this book is about Lawrence's role in the Arab Revolt, but I am not sure. He was a very interesting character, as were most of the British imperials who were mucking about the Middle East. If you're interested, I highly recommend Desert Queen: The Extraordinary Life of Gertrude Bell: Adventurer, Adviser to Kings, Ally of Lawrence of Arabia by Janet Wallach. Bell was one of the few British women imperialists involved in shaping the Middle East - she had a lot of involvement in the creation of the modern state of Iraq along its current borders. I found myself simultaneously admiring her for being so different from the women of her time and ashamed of myself for admiring an imperialist. :0 I have also heard good things about Kingmakers: The Invention of the Modern Middle East but have not yet read it myself.

Thanks for getting back to me!
I covet your Russian Harry Potters. Well, not really. They wouldn't be a lot of use to me. But still.

How did you acquire them?
Pet Sematary was my favorite. I picked it up at Houston Airport when a flight was delayed and could not put it down. I think 'Salem's Lot is still my favorite followed closely by Drawing of the Three, Green Mile and The Stand.
I'm hangin' in there, back to school, all that good stuff. We've been busy outfitting the pad with new bookshelves, always a good time.

I should have taken the day off; they blocked all the sites where I could have watched from work. Bastards.
Hey Fishface, how did I not know you were a Stephen King fan, or did I just forget? I'm just admiring our shared books :)
Good to see you around again :) How's things?
I never post on the BM forums anymore, but I was meaning to say Happy Birthday and totally forgot, I'm sorry! *sends a million bajillion hugs your way!!* Happy late Birthday, I hope it was wonderful!
Wendy birthday happy.
Happy birthday wendy.
oh, and me? I'm surviving. Enrolling in honors for Spring, and trying to focus on preparing my presentation and papers for the classes that are coming to a close. Reading The Mysterious Benedict Society (so far, a brilliant and quirky read - I'm enjoying it immensely) when I should be reading To the Lighthouse (which is distressingly difficult to absorb, hence its inclusion on my womens lit syllabus). It's all good.
you had me at toolbelt - when do I get to meet the wife?

When dropping off the spawn, please ensure that the freeway is northbound. I couldn't let them wander without showing them to the yellow brick road, and I honestly haven't got the time to spare to put together a stunning ballgown and a catchy diddy with which to direct them.

The paper sounds fascinating - a real page-turner/scroll wheel flick-er. Can't wait.
Boo.

Have you missed me? :-D

How's the fam-damily? And your creepy-crawlies?
if i had a dollar for every time i've had to delete that comment from my profile...

I'll put some though into a suitable comment to leave on your profile, to warn unsuspecting LTers. Stay tuned.
i was just snooping i mean browsing someone's library and noticed that they were using the tag "wendy". So that prompted me to do a quick vanity search. You will be pleased to know that i won handily.

Thanks for the offer, but someone has already ordered it from Amazon for me. *is so excited!*

And I love your "about my library"! lol
Hi SBfishpants,

I've cancelled the mooch on the avocado book - he's never replied to my email asking when he'd be asble to send the book and another member has put him on vacation. It's been nearly 4 weeks.

I hope that's ok. Maybe he'll go off vacation eventually...
Cheers
Cushla
Hey - I will mooch it now and see what happens anyway.

Hmmm.... I don't like the look of his track record - why'd he join if he isn't going to send books?!
Anyway I've asked him to let me know how long it'll take till he can send it, and will let you know straight away. Don't worry about finding another NZ book just yet. It might work out ok with just the one. I send lots of my own books to the US, but deliberately don't list any that aren't paperbacks, so that I can leave my setting at worldwide...

BTW your blurb is funny. I need to write one!
eggplant is grand...but I would run away from home before I would eat okra. it is the only vegetable that I will not eat. especially if I can't watch TV.

you certainly must share the "Mom's Homegirl Summer School" story. but please no okra snacks as you tell it.
