Tietoja minusta I am in the US Army Reserve, I completed my training recently and am part of a Signal unit based in Baltimore, MD.

I am going back to college, I will be attending Patrick Henry College in VA. I should graduate in about 7 semesters.

Tietoja kirjastostani If some of these books seem like odd ones for me to own it may be explained by the fact that most of these are from my parents (when their library was being consolidated) and I didn't select them.

It has come to my attention that I ought to explain my tags somewhat. :

10000 Philosophy and Religion (the two are, I believe, very closely related)
11000 Trinitarianism (Christianity)

20000 Reference and Language

30000 History, Biography, and True Events

40000 Mathematics and Science

50000 Fiction

60000 Arts, Games, and Hobbies

It is my own system, though someday perhaps others will use it.

I call it SBNS (Simple Book Numbering System), though it may cease to be simple.

I am going to make it more detailed eventually (that's why there are extra digits). ;)

I am currently working on the next level of detail, but I am unsure of how to show the categories here without taking too much room.

Hi Caleb,

I just spotted the Creationist/ID thread you started in the Christianity Group. I post in a forum here.

You would be welcome if you want to discuss things in terms of evidence etc.
Thanks for joining the Political Conservatives group. Welcome!
Hi Caleb, I have more books than I actually thought. Several I'm going to have to manually enter because there is no ISBN number or LC number. I also have some more books up in the attic that I forgot about. I will be adding them soon.
Joe
Interesting that you are developing your own classification. I have thought about doing so myself -- the closest i have gotten was working on adaptations of Dewey and later on the Bliss Classification (which, while not perfect, is, in my opinion the best general classification out there to do -- it's a shame it isn't more widely used).

Your categories make as much sense as any other i think, and i think category 60000 does sense -- actually it is basically covering the same overall territory as the Dewey 700s and the Bliss Classification's class W.

In one sense there will never be one perfect classification. Classification is always done for a purpose and different people and organizations will have different purposes.

If you would like to share any of your thoughts on classification i would certainly be glad to hear them.
We share some books. I wonder if you might be interested in my Bible Reading Notes, covering the whole of Scripture www.christinallthescriptures.blogspot.co... www.theologyofgcberkouwer.blogspot.com http://chascameron.spaces.live.com

Hey there, sorry to be so long replying. Haven't checked my comments in a long while. Chesterton wasn't an Inkling in the strict sense of the word. I believe he was dead by the time the group started meeting. However, he was a great influence on them, Lewis especially. So, I tend to group him in there for my purposes.
Hmm, 50000 is fiction, 40000 is reference, 30000 is language books, 20000 is history, 11000 is religon (is 10000 religon and 11000 Christianity or?) and I can't quite grok 60000. Is this your system or a library system I don't know (I only know around four, so that's entirely possible).
If you check the books I've tagged with Aquila, I choose my name from a character (or actually several related characters) in those. It's the Latin meaning of it.
