Happily married for over 21 years and hopefully another 40 years should we live so long :-)

Enjoy and collect well-written & well-illustrated children's books. Tend to favor colorful and more complex art (ex. Arlene Graston, Laurel Long, Kinuko Y. Craft, Susan Jeffers) over cartoon-style but find there are invariably exceptions to be made (Harold & the Purple Crayon for one :-)

And I tend to buy more than one copy of the same book if I think its outstanding as gifts for the various nieces & nephews. Since most of them are deluged with toys, I am the book-auntie. I consider it a challenge to try to find books that would be impossible for them not to love.

I read mostly soft sci-fi and fantasy, some history, some trashy romances. How's that for honest? But I love ART! So I collect beautifully illustrated and well-written (and sometimes not so well-written if the art is good enough) Children's Picture Books. And ART books! Pre-Raphaelite Art. Dutch Masters. Mannerism/Surrealism. Golden Age Illustration. Angels, Fae, Mermaids, Fantasy & Mythology in Art.

My house is a library. Two bookcases in the office, two in the reading room. Snuck in eight floor-to-ceiling bookcases in the husband's downstairs man-cave :-)

There are books in every room. Our latest project is to get built-in bookshelves in the office. For more children's books :-)

Here on librarything, I've tagged all my books by illustrator so, when one sorts by tag, all the books are sorted by illustrator. A prime consideration in picture books :-)
